The location is simply perfect, right in the middle of London, nearby the Oxford Circus. The restaurant and the bar are on the top floor where you can admire one of the best panoramic views in London. The decor however is really outdated. It brings you back to 1980s. The food and service on the other hand are the worst I’ve seen in a long time! The menu is bog standard ‘fayre’ and poor choice just salmon, steak and chicken... no veggie option and the wine menu is poor. We ordered bread and were brought 3 rolls that were clearly left over from yesterday’s breakfast and warmed in the microwave; I actually gagged when I bit it! After that we decided to leave... we were too scared to even try the mains! On leaving we were told ‘you have to pay for the bread!!!
The restaurant equivalent of Alan Partridge, and exactly the kind of place he'd frequent. Tired, under-invested, living solely on its proximity to the BBC and Oxford Circus. The view is good, but not *that* good. And I'm afraid you can tell from one look at the menu that the kitchen is not at the top of its game. It can't even be described as good value. It's a huge missed opportunity. The only logical explanation is that the owners are milking it to the last drop. The slum-landlord strategy does, after all, pay dividends.
Expensive and the staff were very rude. I got the impression they were unhappy to be there and to be serving. Which made the compulsory service charge on my already overpriced coke annoying. Great views but dampened by the service.
I used to be brought here by my parents over 30 years ago and as I was in the area with a friend popped in for a cocktail. The view is still superb, however, that's where the good experience ends. The bar service is extremely slow although the waiter was polite be didn't understand the order and didn't even know the cocktails on offer. As with most hotel bars the service was slow and if there wasn't a view I would have wished to be somewhere else. The comments regarding the decor are spot on and I am wondering if it has been changed since I last sent there!
Brilliant view and location, awful service. My friend waited twenty minutes for her cocktail - when we pointed this out to our rude, defensive waiter he said what did we expect it's a restaurant not a bar, cocktails take time, and they were busy. The place was empty! No apology. Also tried to charge me twice for one glass of wine, and charge an inflated price for the second. Was charged 12.5% service to buy a drink at the bar, which I refused to pay. And this was all in just one quick visit. Wouldn't think of eating here, it looks grubby. This place is a real wasted opportunity - such a shame.
Worst customer service ever. Booked for my birthday. They are so unorganised that I had to call them twice to book a space the place is always empty they told me the banqueting manager will call me to get organised and wrote it on their diary in front of me. Never got a call back. Call myself and was reassured that everything will be taking care off. On the day. Nothing was and the space wasn't ready or reserved for me. Thy then bared my guest from living the place before we settle the tab which was on me. They absolutely ruined the evening and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
The stars are for the view only. Well...maybe a bit of one for one of the waitresses that at least tried to help polish the turds on our plates. It's a place to come to look out for sure, just try to ignore the room, the staff and the food! Lamb was tough and inedible - had to be sent back but they still tried to charge us for it. Chicken was also tough and felt like it'd been rescued from a buffet & then sat on a hotplate for hours. "Warm chocolate brownie" was as cold as the ice cream it was served with and the vanilla millefeuille was still frozen. When we told our server this, she whipped it away presumably put it in the microwave for 30 seconds and then plonked it back on the table. When we questioned our bill for the inedible lamb and deserts the best he could offer was to ditch the lamb and remove the compulsory service charge - which we had issue with paying for *anyway*. If you like paying for food you can not eat - this is the place for you!
Dated decor and annoying lighting. Vibe is quiet and sleepy, I prefer quiet and chill. Service is slow and subpar. Took so long for a server to aknowledge is that we thought we were meant to order at the bar, as soon as we stood up to order we were shoed back to our seats and followed back so they could take our order. We were a bit hungry but told the snack we chose was only available in the afternoon, we were not sure if this meant that the whole menu was not available and were confused by why it was set out on all the tables if we couldn’t order from it. We chose some other menu items and were ready to order, other tables came ordered food and left but we were never checked on. When we finished our bottle of wine and waited 15 more mins someone finally came and asked if we would like more wine or anything to eat. Too little too late. Will not be back.
I've been to this bar many times for meetings and a few times for drinks. It is certainly not the best looking bar, not the best service, but has incredible views and is often quiet. If you are looking for a great location, great view and somewhere to chat then this is ideal.
I have asked for the general manager to call me as our experience on Sunday 14th January 2018 was SUB STANDARD for a hotel of this location/ venue and PRICING.......9 people turned up to have LUNCH at the agreed pre booked time of 2pm.......OUR FOOD ARRIVED AT 4pm. CLEARLY! Our booking had NOT been logged by the staff and we had a long delay.........I await to hear from the MANAGEMENT as to what went wrong and I will be insisting on some form of COMPENSATION.
