I got the Steak and stout pie with the Champ mash and Farmer’s gravy, SPECTACULAR. I’ve had a couple of pies already in England but this by far was the best. The steak pie had amazing mouthwatering flavors in the broth, I haven’t had anything like it. The Farmers gravy is tastier and better than the Traditional gravy, both me and my companion agreed. The champ mash is amazing. I’d come here again and would recommend to anyone wanting to try an actually flavorful pie while in the UK. The gravy and pie conjunction embodied a colorful palette of flavor. If you are stuck between the Cumberland sausage or the Steak pie, get the pie. Both my companion and I also agreed it’s better. The chocolate pudding is so damn good, the cocoa flavor is so rich, powerful, and decadent. Unfortunately, the toffee pudding wasn’t it for me needs more flavor or moisture but the sauce on top of it and custard were pretty tasty. The apple crumble and apple and blackberry crumble are also very good, not too sweet how I like. Overall, spectacular food!
overall a flavourful and quick lunch in the city! reasonable prices and we loved the variety. you choose one of many for your choice of mash, gravy and sausages/ pies. we got the bubble & squeak with pork & apple sausage and onion gravy. piping hot with great flavours and a filling portion. it wasn't busy at all when we went, but just being this place might sometimes be quiet that doesn't mean it's not amazing!
Wonderful english food experience. Mash, pies, sausages with their gravy are amazing. The toffee stick is incredible. The service is top! Don't forger to book!
It hit the spot !!! We were hungry and craving for comfort food. I got the typical steak and black stout meat pie with traditional sauce. Meat was tender and crust was flaky. The sauce and mash was a chef’s kiss. Do not sleep on the desserts, the saucy chocolate pudding/cake was fluffy, goes really well with the ice cream and red wine. Great food in a rainy day or a day when you feel decadent.
The staff were so lovely and helpful. They would tell you what they thought to be good and what not. The pie was amazing and very filling with good portion. It was served warm. The pastry was crusty with a soothing rich filling. The gravy was thick and dense enough. There was actually nothing to complain about the pie. The price was pretty decent as well especially when the restaurant is located pretty much at the heart of City of London. Sticky Toffee Pudding: top notch. Very moist and served warm. It blended well with warm custard and cold vanilla ice cream. They all complemented each other which elevated the flavour of the dessert. Such a pleasant experience to finish up your meal.
I arrived without a reservation and was warmly welcomed. Since it was my first time at this restaurant, I wasn’t sure what to order. The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, offering me helpful recommendations to guide my choice. As I enjoyed my meal, the server checked in to ensure everything was to my satisfaction. The presentation was impeccable, and every bite was absolutely delicious. The next time I'm in London, I will definitely be returning to this wonderful restaurant. Delicious. The pie and mash was fantastic. I had traditional mash, steak pie and farmer’s gravy. I think I would get the cheesy mash next time, but would definitely get the steak pie and farmer’s gravy again. The sticky toffee pudding with custard was a very tasty treat, I’m glad I came hungry.
Super cozy spot to grab a pie, mash, and ale. There was a combination of locals and foreigners there. The host was super warm and friendly. The pie was great on a rainy day. The only thing worth mentioning is that I could tell the pie was reheated in a microwave. I get it. Its quick and easy, but I'd gladly wait a few extra minutes to have it reheated in an oven. If only so that the filling isn't lava hot for 15 minutes. Otherwise the pie was tasty.
Specially googled to find this mash and pie place! No regrets! The beef within the pie were soft and tender, and the onion sauce went well with the buttery mash too! My new favourite food spot in London! We had no great expectations as we just stumbled in after shopping, so we were very positively surprised with what a gem we had found there. I had the Champ mash with Cumberland sausages and onion gravy, mum went for a pie. Both was very nice. But the absolute highlight was the Sticky Toffee Pudding - literally heaven on a plate! Service was also lovely. Definitely coming back next time when we’re in London! All the love from Austria
