I’ve recently moved to the area and after having the same hairdresser for about 5 years where I used to live, the prospect of finding a new one was a bit daunting. (I already had one mediocre experience in MK). I’ve finally found my new hairdresser in Charlotte at Headonist. She was amazing and a real credit to the salon. When I booked my appointment she sat me down and spent a good 10 minutes listening to what I wanted, going through different colour options and giving me realistic advice. I had my appointment yesterday and for the first time in about a year I’m 100% happy with my hair. The colour and cut are both fantastic and I can’t wait for my second appointment in December! I’d definitely recommend the salon and Charlotte to anyone – particularly those who are nervous about letting a hairdresser loose on their locks! Thank you so much Headonist!

It was very unfortunate the first time I went there: they cut my hair exactly how I asked them not to cut it (I even explained that I had it cut like that once, ages ago and it made my hair split). This resulted in me having many split ends on the hair that was freshly cut (and way too short as well). I did not change anything for many years and they tried to put the blame on me for the split ends on the hairs that were just cut. Furthermore, I only allowed them to cut two inches off the layers, but I somehow ended up with a nine inch gap between the top and the bottom layer, which made both layers look so messy (top one cut straight on wavy hair, plus with split ends it looked like hay, not hair and bottom layer looked so thin as it just consisted of something that looked like loose strands). I did not have a nine inch gap between the two layers when I walked in. And over all, in terms of layering and shaping, it was very minimal before and we agreed to keep it that way before cutting my hair, but after the cut I was left to find layering and shaping that was completely over done (cut too short and even the shaping itself ended up looking as a short top layer, as there was so much cut off). The shape was absolutely messy, as my hair is wavy and if you cut it just straight, horizontally and will expect it to fall exactly evenly on both sides - it won't - it's wavy hair and so it should be cut. The mess I ended up with was completely unacceptable, as it left me with such a short top layer with split ends (in some places even the hair shaft was cut in) which caused a lot of irritation on my skin (split hair is not soft, it irritates as it feels rough - they could even feel it during the second examination, as the brush would get stuck every time where the ends were split - after that first cut). I asked them to correct it: we had to cut off the freshly split ends (where they were just cut - it was so obvious under close examination and when touching the hair, plus I didn't have split ends or such a short top layer when I walked in) and we had to reduce the gap between the two layer, as they cut the top layer so short that the gap between the top and bottom layer (9inches that were not blended in) gave a very messy shape to the whole hair cut. Fortunately, I managed to get them to cut off the freshly split ends and now that they did it properly, the ends are fine (apart from the front where there are still some strands from the first cut - all hairs on the strand are clearly just cut and all have same split on the ends, even a cut in the hair shaft - I told them not to cut my hair that direction/way as it will result in split ends). In order to fix the first hair cut we had to cut quite a lot more the second time, which left me with much shorter hair that hasn't got that nice volume I had before. Plus it is much harder to manage. It is very sad that this is how it ended up, as I grew my hair long without split ends for a long time and it was nice, wavy, full, had a nice shape and was easy to manage and now I have lost all that. I needed a cut in first place as I grew it for 20weeks and as you imagine hair does not grow exact same length, so it eventually needs a cut to tidy it up. Second star is for the second hairdresser who kindly tried to fix the mess that I was left with the first time. But it is still disappointing that they would not let me know where did it go wrong, as those where the first two things I explained: how NOT TO cut my hair and WHY, and that I want to keep my hair LONG. How did I end up with the wrong cut that made every hair split and how did I end up with such a short top layer (not shaping - an actual layer, as there were so many hairs cut short during that first cut). PLEASE DO NOT REPLY: this review is for people who are also looking for a reliable hairdresser, it is not an invitation for a dialogue.

Did not want to say anything, but cannot help it. I visited the salon because I wanted the grey hair on my temples to be dyed and blended in with the rest of my natural hair colour. It also made sense to have my hair trimmed at the same time. Because of short notice the staff could not book me in for the whole procedure that week. However, the stylist who had cut my hair once before was kind enough to book me in at short notice and she also made a second appointment for the colouring two weeks later. The stylist said that I would only need a couple of foils at the front. My first appointment lasted about 20 minutes (trim and blow dry) and cost £47. My second appointment – two weeks later – lasted about 30 minutes. I had about 8 foils just around the front of my face. My hair was “rough dried”. That procedure cost me £ 45. Goodness me how much is half head or full head is going to cost? I would have been prepared to overlook the extortionate price I had been charged, considering my grey hair is still showing, but I could not believe it when a member of staff refused to honour the 25% off offer the salon had texted to me a few weeks earlier. The stylist said that it only applied to cut and finish. When I said that I had only visited two weeks ago for a cut and finish, she ignored me and suggested I save the voucher for the next time. Of course, there will be no next time, as I will go elsewhere in the city. Additionally, when I first went to the salon, I was given a package that advertised a range of services and promotional offers. One of the offers was – introduce a friend and receive £25 off your second visit. I introduced my son, but that was conveniently forgotten in the salon at my second visit. Nice premises, not very nice practices. Will not visit again!

Awful experience!!! I went to the salon with a picture of what I wanted my hair to look like, I had a good chat about it with the hairdresser and how i wanted the colour and just a trim, as I liked the length of my hair. After nearly 4hours in the salon I was left with nearly exactly the same colour as went in with (which was nothing like the colour I'd asked for) and 4inches cut off my hair. The hairdresser could clearly see I was not happy with my hair, she said I could come back and she would fix it, to which I was told she could see me 2 and a half weeks later. I left in tears as I had been growing my hair as I am getting married soon. Once at home I have looked proper at the hair cut which is uneven and the layers haven't been cut in. I went to another hairdresser to see if she could fix it but as my top layer is so short I have no choice to leave it and hope that it will grow out quickly. I will NEVER use this hairdresser ever again and plead others to go elsewhere.

Had a lovely colour and cut done. Very thoughtful approach to what would look best for me, extremely pleased with how healthy and natural my hair looks. At last I've found a hairdresser I'll go back to. *6 months on* I've now been back several times to have my roots done - still very pleased overall.
