A great pub that serves hearty homemade food, we found this pub a few years ago and regularly meet up with friends there. The Southern fried chicken platter is superb and each meal is served with proper homemade chips, the menu isn't the most extensive but it caters for most people's tastes. The quality of the ingredients for the food is top notch and the food is reasonably priced.
Attend for a work party with 12 of us. Pre ordered all food. All three courses came out piping hot for everyone, with nobody kept waiting. Food was excellent. I loved the chicken strips starter. Others said the mixed grill was amazing and all servings were immense. Highly recommended
Seven in our party which included two elderly who had no problem getting around. All bar, restaurant and toilets are situated on the ground floor with easy access. There is good car parking area with a bus stop out side 132 Maerdy, Cardiff bus Quarter of the building is the bar area which has a pool table. There is a lounge/dining area, with separate bar, which also leads to a large conservatory dining area. Towards the rear there is a grassed garden with a children's play area which also has an outdoor 'covered' seating. All rooms seemed well decorated and pleasant with ample seating. Meals were full and of very good standard. The service and staff being very presentable and attentive. All-in-all a very pleasant experience to a good medium size pub/restaurant which we would be more than happy to revisit. Thank you.
Absolutely amazing Sunday lunch staff are so helpful we have already booked for next week
Great staff Great food. I visited from North Wales and arranged a meal for 9 at very short notice. Pub managed to accommodate us making us feel very welcome. Had a great time definitely going back.
Long wait time and the prices??? A party of 3 of us plus 1 baby £83!! The standard of food definitely wasn't worth that price for a local pub! Was going to have the halloumi starter but that was £6.50!! The sourdough garlic bread is rock hard and 2 portions were £8.50! I probably wouldn't return because I have ate the same quality food at a much cheap price and wait time was over 40 minutes and we were the only 3 people in the restaurant
Waiting this on behalf of my mother Liz. who says “ Only had Sunday lunches here and they are to die for. Homemade gravy, delicious & tender beef, always piping hot. “Staff always work hard and accommodating”.
Every time we go it is brilliant. The welcome is warm, the drink is great and the meals are substantial and amazing value for money! Thanks to all the team for another great meal and evening out with friends.
