A most beautiful hotel in a lovely quiet location within a 5 minute walk of the town centre of Moffat. The owners were very friendly and hospitable. Breakfast was super with quality ingredients. This hotel/BandB offers a very high standard stay, all at a very reasonable price.Rooms: 5/5
Perfect at every point. We enjoyed it so much we had to go back the next night just to make sure! Superb food and lovely personable front of house. Highly recommended
All I can say is... What an outstanding place!!! Staff extremely friendly. Wonderful quiet location and the inside decor is beautiful. More than anything the food was AMAZING. There is nothing at fault in any way shape or form. After living in Scotland for three years and being a chef myself I've always been on the look out for a decent meal. Couldn't find one anywhere until this place came along. I will definitely recommend it to friends and family. You must go!
They have a very small menu, but it pretty amazingly tasty. We had the 3 courses for 33 squid. It was really worth it. Not the largest serve sizes, but i quite like that. Its not really a waiter, but the chap that owns the place and despite the fact we possibly asks the same question over and over again he was polite and interested. Anyway back to the food. We had a potted haddock and shrimp and cod brandade, we disagreed on which one is better. I liked the potted one, it was so smokey and loads of fun, Amy liked my brandade, the combination if salt cod and oil, was rich, creamy and very nice. On for main course, I had duck, wild mushroom dophinoise, carrot and bacon puree and burnt radichio. It sounds a bit nutts but it all worked together. They all wore worth it, but at the same time they were better together. Amy's was super fresh and summer, mint, beans rice and peas. Really good. Pudding was ok. But it was so good overall. And great value.
We had an excellent meal and dining experience at the Limetree restaurant. The service was top notch and very welcoming. Herring starter was delicious and the mains we all had were fantastic. Well done Service: 5/5
A warm welcome into a comfortable, well-appointed accommodation. A truly sensational evening meal in the adjoining Limetree restaurant. And to send us on our way the following morning, a copious full traditional breakfast. Thank you for a memorable experience.
We liked our top floor room here, and everything was clean and worked well. When we woke we enjoyed the breakfast a lot. Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were delicious and the bread was excellent. The hotel owners were very friendly and kind, and I love that it is a family-run affair. Moffat itself is quite charming, and I'd definitely recommend visiting the nearby Grey Mare's Tail waterfall and Loch Skeen. All in all a nice holiday spot!
A really friendly welcome. The food is very good, both for dinner and breakfast. Bedrooms are clean and comfortable, not high end but represent great value for money. Very convenient for stopping whilst either travelling north or south as it's just 2 miles off the motorway.
Friendly welcome. Lovely views from our bedroom. Five minute walk to Moffat main street with amazing weather for our stay. Then to finish our break a faultless cooked breakfast. Definitely visit Hartfell House again.
Excellent B&B. We had the family room and there was plenty of space for us two and our two grown up children. The food and menu was very good indeed, could not complain. I overheard someone say that it was expensive - well its not that bad considering the quality of the fayre on offer - treat yourself!
