Lovely staff and clientele were respectable . I liked the decor, not fussy or pretentious. Halloumi was good, chicken pie from the specials board was delicious. My little one enjoyed her food as well as a fair bit of mine! We all kept on eating for 10 minutes after all 5 of us declared ourselves "stuffed" so it must have been good. Worth a visit if in the area. Try the pie or the steak and kidney pudding if you get a chance.

It's an odd place which is still trying to find an identity. Most of the menu is fried and the quality of your visit seems to depend on what you order and what you're expecting. For example , the cod and chips is £15, huge and of restaurant quality, but they have 50p a bottle non-brewed condiment on the table like a cheap chip shop! Some menu items do look like they're straight from Makro though, like the garlic bread. The mash with the tasty lamb shoulder was still in the shape of the basin it was microwaved in! The bar and some comfy sofas take up most of the room and there are still pub signs outside but there are lots of stern computer printed A4 signs stuck to the windows staying that 'this is a restaurant' in an attempt to get customers to buy food rather than stand at the bar or sit in the comfy chairs with a pint......really odd. It's almost like the owner has fallen out with the dog walkers and decided he/she needs to make proper money out of food. They need to take some advice if they want to be a proper full restaurant, which would most likely mean removing the bar completely and the sofas. They would do better by being a real ale pub which sells superb fish and chips and not try to be something they're clearly haven't got the skills to pull off.

Hi.this evening in your resturant.i had a coffee before my meal which was only Luke warm,my main had mashed potatoe that was dangerously hot,I can only presume that is how it came out of the microwave.i asked for a coffee and requested to have the cup warmed before the coffee was made.but you guite sharp waitress said no she can't.i suggested maby she could boil a kettle and warm the cup that way.her response was that you don't have a kettle.i think the vinney vinegar salt and pepper on the table all freely available in tesco stores.set the tone for the evening. Had a really disappointing meal just before Christmas but since then realised it has closed for 'refurbishment' but I wonder if it will ever reopen.
