Good pub that straddles the line between being a modern venue for hire, and a rustic country inn. Food is plentiful and decent quality at reasonable price. Ample parking and great as a break from doing other activities within the area. The only real let down is how busy it can get, and at those times the service suffers.

If its a coffee or a beer after a walk in the forest or on high beech.... this is it - basic but welcoming rest and refueling. Surprised its still here after all these years.

Nice pub, lovely food, staff helpful, beer garden and right in the heart of high beech, on a sunny day, couldn't ask for better!!

The King's Oak Hotel is a periodic pitstop on Epping Forest walks from High Beach. It's an imposing place, that stands out in a forest clearing. When we went there was a real fire and people out for a stroll on Boxing Day. On the minus side it can be very busy. In the Summer this isn't to difficult. There's a large beer garden around the back. We've always found the hotel good for hearty pub food. Whilst High Beach is an attractive location, in the heart of the forest, it can often be extremely busy. We tend to keep our visits short and walk into the forest, where it's quieter. There's a network of paths radiating out from High Beach.

This pub is so special to me and my family. I had my brother Andy's wake here last night and everyone had such a good time, we are all going to come back next year and do it again. The bar staff and management were so friendly and helpful. We all love it here. See you soon. I shouldn't single out anybody, but a big hug to Lindsey.
