Service was close to excellent as usual. However, food was terribly this time. It used to be good when we last came a year ago. This time everything went terribly wrong. The roasts were overcooked - even for the vegetables and fries. Most certainly won’t be coming back after this time - even weatherspoon would be better.
Came for the all you can eat unlimited breakfast on a Saturday morning. The restaurant was relatively full, but still had empty tables. It is a buffet help your self style. The quality of the food provided was ok. It is the lack of the food replenishment that was the major problem here. Food sat waiting at the chefs window for a while with those in the queue for the hot food staring at it longingly until staff were notified that items had run out and it was brought over. The choice for hot food was as pictured: hash browns, tomatoes, mushrooms, black pudding, sausages, beans, scrambled egg, bacon, fried eggs all of which were flipped so no runny yolk. There was the continental choice of pastries pan au chocolate, croissants, white and brown bread, crumpets, pancakes, and various jams. There was cereal, yoghurts, and fruit. The hot food station is located literally right next to the ladies toilets which - in my opinion - isn’t great, and also a small set of steps that lead down to the chefs counter, so if you’re not careful and step backwards while queuing, you could accidentally have a fall. Plates were not always clean, and again, not kept replenished. For the price, I would say it is worth it for the unlimited breakfast, however service and replenishment of the food/plates could be better.
We had dinner and breakfast here Dinner - service was great and staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely lady served us but didn't catch her name but did leave a tip for her. Food was delicious too Breakfast - food was good, service was okay but they were confused what time we had booked for as they told us different but then realised - waiting staff looked a bit grumpy but on the whole dinner and breakfast were both very yummy
A big thank you to Lorraine who served us in the bar area. She was 5 star, helpful, found a quiet area for us to sit, advised on food and drink order and checked we were happy with everything when food arrived, she is a credit to your company. The food was good and well presented and will definitely recommend the Harbour Lights Beefeater. Thank you.
Visited here as a family of 8 last Sunday for a special occasion. We have visited many times before on a Sunday & never had any issues. This Weekend was different. The poor waitress was so busy attending several tables, we were made to wait quite a while to order & then receive our food. Then trying to get her attention to ask for sauces, extra drinks was really difficult. This by any means was not her fault!!! On top of this we ordered the roast beef Pink but when the food came out, it was very well done & tough. When we advised the staff about this, they did offer to replace it, but couldn’t give us a time of how long it would be. As 6 other people were eating their meals, we couldn’t wait. Also I n previous visits the roast dinners have been exceptional. This time the portions were much smaller & not to the same high standards as before. The ‘extras’ we paid for, pigs in blankets & cauliflower cheese were nowhere near what we have had before. All in all our visit was a bit of a let down, especially the service & the food. Like I said we come here a lot for breakfasts, lunch & dinners & have always been pleased with everything. Would need to seriously think about ever coming back for a roast dinner!!!
Had a wake here for a family member. It was great. The food we ordered from the menu choices was lovely. Lots in quantity for our 25 people estimate. Staff very friendly and asked our wishes for left over food.Food: 5/5
Food was overpriced and questionable quality . Premium sausage tasted cheap. Dining area was cold and draughty , there was dried food all over the wall where we were seated , classy . No soap in any of the soap dispensers in the gents but someone had filled make do carex dispenser with tap water . Staff were un engaging and looked like they’d rather be anywhere but there .
PREPARE TO BE DISAPPOINTED Unorganised & slow - food just about ok. Meet & greet stood waiting for 6 mins before being shouted at from across the restaurant "be with you in a minute" From waiting to be seated to getting drinks which turned up wrong was 25mins. We were sat amongst uncleared and dirty tables. Took ages to have our starters cleared and refill drinks offered, nobody checked how our main meal was, we didn't bother with dessert, couldn't wait to leave. My son used the toilets which were smelly with no hand soap available. Shame staff from the Rusty Cutter weren't deployed here, at least service there was friendly, organised and everywhere was clean. Food bill at Harbour was £80+ for 1 x kids menu, 2 starters, 2 mains and 3 refill drinks, all of which took well over 2 hours. Won't be going back.
The staff coped brilliantly with our large family group. The food came quickly and was hot which is hard to do with so many. Cheerful and fun service style. Would definitely book again, thank you!Food: 5/5
Surprisingly really hot tasty breakfast, I say surprisingly because I'd read some previous reviews and it seemed hit & miss. Today was a HIT. Plus the waitress that was on duty was very pleasant. We will certainly visit again.Food: 4/5
