Last summer I went to this store to buy roof bars and a roof box. After an hour, I came away with nothing. Three of the assistants that work there could not agree on the correct fittings for my car. Today, I went to buy a child car seat. The assistant recommended one but was too lazy to demonstrate how to fit it. When I asked how to adjust the straps he could not do it and said the display model was broken as people mess around with them. I told him he was a clown and went next door to mothercare where 2 very helpful assistants demonstrated exactly how to fit the seat and showed me the button to press to adjust the straps. the level of customer service and product knowledge at Halfords is truly appalling

Update: experience varies, went in today, got help form a nice lady who was helpful. Could not find what I needed, but was happy with the service.

Shame it’s not a consistent experience 

Ok in terms of stock. Staff really need some training. No help offered, and hardly any help when you manage to get one other their attention.

pound for a brake bleed, I came back and found them actually sucking brake fluid from the bottom of my brake and pouring it back into the top! When I confronted them they claimed they were just freeing my brake fluid from bubbles and it would be fine after this procedure, you could see as they were pouring it that it looked like old chip pan oil that has sort of plasma like residue in it. Couldn’t believe my eyes and when I complained that my brake was no better they claimed I just needed to break my brake pads back in! Only been in there for months after all right! Biggest rip-off I’ve ever encountered in all my years as a cyclist, if you think a brake bleed means an injection of clean new brake oil then you better look elsewhere! I can’t even get my head round it, I’ve started making excuses for halfords with things like “they’ve beeen hoodwinked by someone with false qualifications” but in the end there were “3” staff bent over my bike at the time, surely one of them would have said “erm... that ain’t how you bleed a brake m8!”
