Hagerstown station was quite similar at platform level to hoxton, it is a brilliant station with everything you need from bike locks to a nice ticket office with friendly staff who are always there to help! Trains were frequent and went to many destinations! A good station and one I recommend to visit as there is an excellent park next to the station!
Really nice London Overground station with lifts available to the platforms. Clean and tidy station with regular services to Highbury and Islington and Canda Water stations. Haggerston station is on a side back street.
Weird guy across the street keeps saying that I'm space ghost and that I'm wanted coast to coast.‍
The northbound platform information display consistently 'freezes' with wrong information and no-one ever seems to notice staff until it is directly addressed to them. This morning I waited nearly 20 mins for a train to Highbury and Islington, and it literally went straight past with passengers aboard, but didn't stop around 7.50am leaving dozens of passengers on the platform, wondering what was going on. No announcements, no accurate display information, no explanation. This is frustrating and unacceptable given how modern and new this station is when compared with much of the antiquated network. Clear and accurate information is a necessary part of the function of a modern station - and it needs to be present and operational. Aside from this gripe, I would say it is generally well maintained. UPDATE — Since the reintroduction of the dangling polythene refuse bags on the platforms, the bags fill, but clearly aren’t emptied before foxes get onto the platforms at night and tear the bags for contents, leaving detritus strewn all over the place. Surely it is not beyond the capabilities of the station to introduce some alternative.
Update Jan 2024 Once again, the lifts are not working haven’t been since mid-December and this morning there is no platform read-out displaying train info. Two or three people standing around chatting in the concourse office. Disappointing that such a well designed station is so poorly maintained for its users. =========================== Another morning of Highbury & Islington trains re-routing to Dalston Junction. No announcements from the station ‘comms’ office. You have to get on a train and just risk it because the ‘super hi-tec announcement board’ is so unreliable. Totally agree with the previous review - the station is clean, but it is seriously let down by poor service. Fed-up with it. Far more people need to get to Highbury in the mornings, than Dalston Jctn and the trains and supporting announcements should reflect this.
Lift facility doesn’t work south bound, so three people had to drag bicycles up the stairs, many stations in London have the facility but are unable to make the lifts them work, really not friendly for anyone needing to use the lift, maybe you need to install more than one lift or build platforms step free ones on the side, it is really not normal to not have any alternative to the lift, what do people with children do and any other people that can’t climb the stairs.
Today was my first time at this station As my car broke down. But I was so relieved that they had a lift here. A park close by my 7yo and 2yo stopped by before boarding the train. The staff was helpful. Helped me get tru the barrier with my buggy. The surroundings looked clean. Thank you. Great first impression and a perfect direct service to Croydon
Ok, but the lifts are out to one of the platforms as I type and it’s a long set of stairs without them
I accidentally dropped my earbud under the platform 2 away from the rail-tracks. Went to the office to ask them if they can get my earbud and they wrote down my name, phone-number and took a picture of where my earbud is. It’s been 4 weeks now and I have heard nothing. Last time I went there, they said ‘tfl staff no authority to go on the tracks’ as only “National Rail” not “tfl” staff can retrieve lost items under the platform. I spent £100 on those earbuds and it’s probably damaged or blown away by the wind and rain by now. Useless staff we pay them and they can’t do their jobs properly. Idiots
It's a lovely little residential area station. No nonsense get on get off the train service. Fits perfectly into this quiet area.
