Was in the back of the Dress Circle for Maggie Rogers in September 24. Atmosphere was great. It's a relatively small venue 1600 or so for a standing gig. Getting there is simple with London Overground via the two Hackney stations & getting in was fine. Staff were good & beer pricing wasn't too bad for a London venue. Sound quality was very good, with a very good mix when I was there. Slight downmark if you're shorter at the back of the dress circle, as the seats aren't staggered & you might get stuck behind someone taller. Apart from that, can definitely recommend!
Loved it Their bar is surprisingly cheap I got a lemonade and I would highly recommend you to try it if you want something non alcoholic ! Seats are okayish comfy. I booked seats at the very left end of Stalls row I and I absolutely got the perfect view worth every penny! Overall very nice experience
Gives you an old theater experience which was amazing! The seating was also perfect as was alternated to avoid blocking the view of the artist due to the audience in front of you and was stepped up. Sound quality was great!
the atmosphere is incredible! A stunning theater to be in. Went to see Jimmy Carr, had a wonderful night out. Only downpart; the rows of chairs are a bit close, so not that much leg room.
Drinks selection isn't great, beers were a bit flat and warm. Balcony seats are not for those with vertigo as you feel very narrow & slanted, & it's benches with no backs. Sound and view was good though, and the venue itself is gorgeous. Better drinks selection would make this a higher rating.
Hackney Empire is a brilliant place to see music and comedy. This beautiful historic venue has a bar on every level and the gallery isn't allocated seating so get in early. There isn't air con so where light breathable fabrics on hot days. Lots of fantastic places for food and drink a stone's throw from the theatre.
Beautiful traditional theatre. The photo posted with this review was taken from seat number dress circle A46. Described as a restricted view but as can be seen, just part of the stage and scenery is obscured.
Lovely venue. Staff efficient. Bar was OK. Seats not too great, but hey it's old!
Beautiful Venue with amazing history and wonderful performances. I've now been here dozens of times. Staff aren't what they used to be but I guess that's a sign of hackneys unfortunate gentrification and attracting those who are spoiling hackney. But it's worth a visit just for the wonderful talent on show and to enjoy this beautiful historic building
My first time at the Hackney Empire and I was blown away at how beautiful this theatre is! I was there to see "The Pogues Red Roses for Me" 40th Anniversary gig. What a night! Great atmosphere
