You came for the castle and other sites huddled near the royal mile. However, if you feel adventurous and find yourself near Portobello Beach one MUST refresh oneself here at Foresters Guild. It is a restaurant not to be missed. Creative dishes take the familiar and elevate them to new heights. Start with the haggis over chips or putine. There is a variety of cozy seating areas indoors and outdoors. Excellent helpful staff.
Absolutely loved the wee beach huts! It was nice to sit outside but still have our own wee space. The food was great. We had the Halloumi Fries you’ve got to try them!, beetroot hummus with flatbread, aubergine tacos, fish tacos, salt & chilli fries and the Truffle Oil and Parmesan Fries another fave! Staff were welcoming and chatty and the sun was out, so thankful for that too
We have over the years dined a bit in Foresters, but I had only ever been inside, so decided to book one of the little huts, what a hit! This was for an early birthday and fathers day dinner with the kids. The restaurant and bar was busy, but it was a lot quieter by the huts and sheltered from any rain, but we still got the sun. They have Build in heaters which can manually be switched on by diners. The selection of food is good, proper pub food and nicely cooked. I had Mac n cheese bon bons starter and a Black n Blue burger, basically beef burger with black pudding and blue cheese although I swapped mine for cheddar. I then upgraded to Haggis and peppercorn coated chips. What a meal and I eat a lot usually, so was well chuffed when this meal arrived. Big thanks to the team, who were all really friendly and helpful
Delicious food, tasty beers, very friendly and attentive staff. Our server even gave us some tips on what to do in the city. Would definitely recommend.
The idea behind the roast is great with a board to share out between 2. The meal was incredible and staff were very welcoming and friendly. Worth the journey for that meal and will certainly be back for another Sunday roast.
As a pretty avid traveler I would absolutely recommend Foresters to anyone. We ordered a variety of meals and a variety of desserts. Everything came to the table timely and very nicely prepared, cooked as we requested. Our servers were very polite and accommodating. The desserts were to die for. Cozy feel and fantastic food… perfect
Having eaten here many times before, was extremely disappointed to find that the quality has plummeted.... No bottled water when seated at your table a nice touch I always thought. Service OK pleasant staff, menu choice disappointing for the prices asked. Ordered the party pulled pork cheesecake and extremely disappointed that it came to my table cold...obviously temp not checked before service... I always recommended here to friends but have decided after pointing out to the chef and not happy with response will not be recommending or visiting again..
We were delighted with our visit. The food was delicious, the service excellent and the general atmosphere was splendid. But then I have always found this to be the case when I go to Foresters Guild. We will certainly be back very soon.
Great value pub food, with very helpful and friendly staff. Very good local real ale Stewart Brewery. What's not to like? Thank you.
Seriously good food Great staff We booked a second visit before we left first time Burgers really filling. Parmesan chips are recommended as seen on the photos The halloumi starter was fantastic The hot-dog for the kids was good Desert of salted caramel ice cream or sticky toffee pudding was delicious Range of drinks very good too.. full bar of choice
