An excellent local Chinese. Golden Fish Bar is under new management so we decided to try it out, placing a fairly large order. The service was fantastic and quick. The only downside was the slight struggle to find a comprehensive menu without visiting in shop. Therefore I have attached photos of the full menu. I will be using Golden Fish Bar again and I highly recommend them to anyone around the Bristol area.
Pick up or delivery options and a "go large" if you ask nicely I can't report on the fish chips sausage etc English stuff as I always buy from the Chinese menu. Helpful staff with great personality but don't get on the wrong side of the boss.i got scared when she raised her voice and I was sitting in my car 30 yards away!Food: 5/5
Great food, good selection of all sorts, fairly priced and family run business
The Golden Fish Bar is my immediate go to for a Chinese takeaway. The food is always cook fresh, the portions are good and the food is delicious. The staff are always friendly and efficient and the prices are reasonable in comparison to some others I’ve used. If you collect, they usually quote 10 - 15 minutes. If you request delivery, they usually state within 60 minutes and they’ve never let us down in either case. Recommendations? Crispy Chilli Beef, Sweet and Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style, Crispy Lamb with Seaweed and Salt and Chilli Chicken are delicious.
Did a phone call order and was told 45min for collection. Arrived 5 min before time, food was ready but all meals were barley warm, very disappointed.
It all started on the 29th of September 2022, the sky was dark with lightly emitting clouds filling the air with a mild sense of dissatisfaction, across the road I saw the most precious of things, a shop. It had a sign that read golden fish bar and cracked stone brick walls. The windows were littered with grease and misfortune, there were a few solemn soles waiting inside for something yet to come. Behind the white concrete counter were people of dismay repeating the same repetitive task over and over again like robots completing a task unworthy for any sole having creature. I entered this place of boredom expecting to find something hopeful, hoping for something that would deem my time less of a waste. At first glance it seem somewhat normal but then as I looked closer I saw the darkness, the evil behind the mask. There were 4 people waiting ,sat in stools made of wood and old brailed cotton fibre, one seamed sullen and depress and the one that didn't looked hopeful and joyous however, by the second you could see he was losing hope. He has short brisk brown hair, he couldn't have been less than 50 although that may have been the shop making him look older than reality. The other men all seemed middle aged probably had family's of their own however at this current moment in time I don't think it was their main path of thought. As i realized that they looked like this due to the waiting times my eyes steered away to the ceiling where I saw parts of render cracking and precariously balancing as if even a blow from a mere child could make it fall. Over the counter I saw a woman who looked around 40 however, life couldn't have done her any good, her hair was bare and greying it seemed chalky and dry as if it had suffered though years of stress. I couldn't yet tell what she was saying however, her voice was rasp with shouting her eyes were red as if she had been crying for years without lull, I could see desperation in here eyes as she handed people their food. Now for the dreaded task of ordering... As I took my first step, I could hear the echo of my foot hitting the ground on the hollow linin floor. Then I took another and noticed the shoes of the people over the counter -there were none- , the worker was bare foot, i thought i could see some sort of foot fungus but maby it was just the poor lighting. suddenly my apite for any food or drink but i was determind to eat. Thud thud thud. I slowly steped foward i grew increasingly tense, the tension in this room was unbareably i thought about leaving. but no i must continue! 3 more steps to go... now 2... at this point I started contemplating life decisions, why was I here? why did I need to rely on others for my food? how did I even get here? As i looked at the person behind the counter I saw her face and her smile but I could tell it was just a mere mask to hide the truth of the pain and suffering her job is putting her through. I could see the back of someone in the kitchen and it seemed almost normal other than the falling down roof and food all over the floor but then I realize... -HE HAD A GUN. This was it i was gone, i left as quick as how slow I entered, I slammed open the crooked door and ran and ran... too this day i am still running, whenever I see a fish bar my mind casts me back to that day, I have seen therapists and none of them could cure this horrific image that continuously lurks inside my mind.
My mum recently moved to old land so we thought we would give it a go! The food was absolutely beautiful. The staff are lovely and friendly. My husband and I love in kingswood, we have now converted sbd travel to oldland to get our food from there! Highly recommend
Have ordered from here for years and have never had a bad takeaway, few collections but mostly delivers, always on time or early, very good phone service and always accommodating to minor changes we ask to make to the dishes we order: Delivery driver always lovely and safe as possible
Nice local Chinese restaurant, had salt and chilli squid and it was tasty. Wife had chow mein and gave it big thumbs up!
Our usual Chinese has been closed for past 2 weekends, so rang the Golden Fish Bar. We were well impressed with the foid. So much tastier, not soaked in soy sauce and both meals were full of extra veg. I had a beef chow mein which instead of just bean sprouts, beef and noodles had lots if extra crispy veg. Hence to say we have been converted. A great delivery service too Thank you from us both.
