A great place to watch an independent movie. It’s a charity so I was happy to see my ticket sale was going to a good cause. I watched the potential Oscar winning American Fiction. Great movie, great cinema! I post a full video review on this, you can find our channel The Olive Tree Family across all social media channels.
Glasgow institution that is a bastion of independent cinema. Great atmosphere & super friendly staff. Only draw back for tall people are the seats, but I still wouldn't change the 5 stars!
First visit to see Jaws. I loved it, like stepping back in time. Actual cinema room is really big, the screen isn't as large as newer theatres but it's part of the charm and acceptance of the place for what it is. It's an experience and love that they show the old movies. Great little bar/cafe too and reasonably priced.
Welcoming place with a well lit foyer, staff are friendly and professional, building has original art deco features, choose your own seat anywhere in the auditorium which is clean, tidy and of a bygone era but comfortable enough to enjoy a visit no reclining seats, bargain tickets for Friday matinees, an actual paper ticket that the usher removes the stub from. Alcohol and non alcoholic beers available, as well as coffee which is freshly brewed and tastes as good as coffee chains, soft drinks also available watch out for the magic till.
I went to the movies twice while I was visiting Glasgow and was so delighted to find this little theater. There's even a little cafe upstairs serving coffee and other drinks. They don't have a popcorn machine but have nice quality bagged popcorn. I didn't have any issues with hearing other people open or eating during the film. Great theater and friendly staff! Thanks!
Amazing films, nice vibes, simple but effective bar! Seats are a bit small, I'm 5ft 8 and my knees were a wee bit squashed but otherwise comfortable. Friendly staff.
Love this place. Was reminiscing with a friend about the films that I have seen here. Great for documentary films which sometimes have a Q&A. Good to go with a friend so you can discuss a film like that afterwards.
What a great place to watch a film. Saw the 70mm screening of 2001 A Space Odyssey. Brilliant film in a brilliant location. The only complaint was the heat in the cinema. Could have done with better air conditioning
I was at GFT on Saturday, 11th May to see Big Banana Feet. It was a truly memorable experience. I loved the film, to see the Big Yin up close and personal. I had seen the original show at Glasgow Apollo in the 70’s when I was young and he was young too. It was very poignant to see the film as a 77 year old with my younger daughter beside me. I had taken her big brother with me to see it at the Apollo when he was a wee boy. Magic. The GFT is such a comfortable cinema with plenty of space. It is one of the things that I miss now that I no longer live in Glasgow.
Its a beloved institution but 1 star off for shutting the bar/concessions whilst you still have two cinemas full of people. disappointing.
