Audiences in many countries have been fascinated by its magic, and based in Glasgow since 1996 it has gained a reputation as one of the city’s hidden treasures.

I’ve never seen anything like this in my years of travelling. Super interesting if you’re into the Guillermo del Toro aesthetic, light shows, puppetry and machinery. It’s very interesting to see how the mechanism works and to find hidden characters here and there. My favourite is the “Titanic” and the one hanging near the reception. Another interesting thing is to see how the sounds made by the machinery complement each other while the show is going on. The only thing is that there wasn’t enough time to go through the history notes before/after the show ends. I think what would be interesting is to have small group tours and have an expert walk through some highlights with you and also the stories behind each sculpture. Like, what does the animals symbolise. In the “Tower of Babel” - what is the idea behind it and how did it come about, etc. All in all, highly recommended. It was time well-spent.
Very interesting and really well organised. Some of the works definitely have a more clear idea to them then others and I don’t think I personally liked all the works, but the ones I did like were well worth it. A lot of the works feel like fairytale meets dystopia, with a lot of darker works with a bit of whimsy in them
Robin was a FABULOUS host for 2 shows for me today. I've never seen anything like it. The art is very unique, the choreography and music really make each show worth the investment of time. So many characters, details and stories. I loved this once in a lifetime experience.
The show is definitely worth a visit.haunting music and characters made from bits of sewing machines, bicycle wheels made into moving characters come to life, fascinating works of art which will amuse and entertain you throughout the show, loved it
Fascinating display of whimsical animated sculptures, constructed from wood carvings and more recently found metal objects and scrap. Light and music enhance the show.
I was here in April 2015 during my visit to Glasgow as a tourist, and it was the thing I truly liked the most in this city. I came back in May 2024 as I wanted to re-experience this exhibition, but I made the mistake of not checking the opening times I thought it was open all day long, like a regular museum I saw that now they have two separate shows, which is nice :
A friend on holiday in Glasgow told me about this, i had probably walked past it unwittingly, a hundred times. It is not well advertised. This is a very special unusual place see the accompanying explanatory note.Different exhibitions are permanently on show at Trongate art centre . Its £15 per person and the show lasts approx 1 hour you are then free to peruse and wonder at the now silent exhibits. If the photos don't impress you then forget it. Children will adore it too. Tickets can be booked on your phone in advance. There are several shows daily.
It was the most unique experience I have had. It is very accurately described as the hidden gem of Glasgow. It is indeed enjoyed by kids and adults alike
Wow. Loved every bit. I'd never heard of this before but the other half bought us tickets as she thought I might like it. The movements, music and especially the light bring these machines to life.
I thoroughly enjoyed this truly unique experience. The craft work of the sculptures was amazing and their movements were delightfully entertaining. Even the way their shadows were cast on the walls was fascinating.
