I went here a good few years ago now, but I feel like I should write a review with my experience at the college. The campus is really nice and well maintained. I can't really remember the interior details & services they offer inside except for the Cafe but it was nice and wasn't too expensive. Staff were alright, some definitely suffer from bias and can be extremely rude especially in the Social Care. There was one lecturer that was so rude and vague with their coursework feedback - extremely unprofessional. The courses also suffer from poor organisation and things are a little too chaotic due to the lack of communication both between students and lecturing staff. Just be prepared to leave your course, having passed, but feeling like you literally learned nothing.
The classrooms could do with more space and the toilet locations are interesting. Teachers are nice but I would rate cardonald over this with 5 star if you can choose go there
Don't do mechanical engineering here. Completely unorganized. They teach the absolute bare minimum for the more more important classes like thermofluids. Those classes amount to "here's the tutorial, memorise it for the exam". Then there are other classes that are a complete joke, with the joke classes for some unknown reason taking up two trimesters instead of one. In those you learn absolutely nothing, trying to stay awake while you listen to a lecturer waffle on about something they saw in work years before. Those classes will have exams like "what does this acronym stand for?". Some classes were basically just how to read graphs. Those come across as a simple marking off of a checklist, just to meet some sort of quota. Often you're expected to study with no notes or wrong notes, lecturers never answer emails. There are a couple of good lectures, some are obviously working under difficult situations, then there are absolutely terrible lectures who seemingly have no idea what they're talking about, are lazy, just want you to pass exams, and there's one who is very curt, to the point of aggressive rudeness, with some inexperienced students. I've wasted time and money here. All of the big industry partners have pulled out their apprentices and they still think they're doing a good job. The only positives i can give is that the math department is at least organized and they will give you up to engineering math 5, and the few practical classes where you use machinery are good. Update: as further proof of how unorganized it is, the course head didn't even register the class with the sqa, leading to a delay in getting our certificates. The whole class.
I told lecturers on three occasions that I needed to drop out for personal reasons and each time I was told not to. "You might as well stick it out until Christmas and then see how you feel." turned into "well you've made it this far, you might as well just finish the course." turned into radio silence. As a result I got to deal with a total lack of communication from incredibly unprofessional staff. One lecturer in particular should not be working people, let alone people from 14 y/o+ . I'm still waiting to hear back from multiple emails and follow-ups sent to lecturers in January 2021 when I was actually a student; since then I've had to try and contact them multiple times, still to no response. After the 5k student loan, draining my savings and moving half way down the country to study with them, I can safely say I've wasted my time with a qualification from Glasgow Clyde College.
Went a few years ago to do an Interactive Media course for 3 years and study all forms of computer media. Instead we got lecturers that left half way through courses and forced to study nothing but web design even after making many requests to study other topics the class actually wanted to learn.
College is a complete shambles from top to bottom, Classes are always unorganised with teachers taking holidays in between working time, Nobody answers emails so you’re always left in the dark, Teachers are always late to classes roughly by 10 mins, Teachers are always late in returning exam results, we got told to expect results within a week ended up waiting over 2 months , A certain teacher is also extremely unprofessional, rude and unapproachable. Do not come here if you are looking at doing engineering, it is a complete waste of a years worth of education.
Was going to do an evening course here, starting at 5pm, so for people who are in full-time jobs or education. On the first day of the course they emailed us at noon that they are going to start the course another week. I didn't see the email because I was busy at work and then quickly headed for the train to go to the course. They didn't even properly apologize for the inconvenience.
I've been studying in this college for 2 weeks as an erasmus student, and I have to say that I got a general idea about CNC technology. If you take this course here, you'll definitely learn a lot of things in the subject
While a decent college, I'm not all that keen on it when I was briefly a student there. It's too busy, not much choice for courses and support for those with learning difficulties is flawed. It's ridiculous that the staff had to hire a classroom assistant when I needed one, and took WEEKS.
The lecturers are extremely unprofessional. They would use swear words in class and had no idea what they were doing. Besides, they are incredibly racist and sexist. The worst place that you can possibly go.
