Stopped by to catch up with friends. Really nice, clean pub. The bathrooms, despite being worn down, were very well kept. Food was good. There are options for many different types of diets. Plenty of seating and standing areas. TVs located throughout. They also have some food challenges, if you're into that sort of thing.
Enjoyable meal had here as part of a family get together. Good choice on the menu and look out for the offers available to make it even better value. Friendly staff and clean facilities.
Brilliant for casual dinner or lunch. Nice place with good food. There are some good options for grilled food. We have been served quickly, prices are competitive, and the car park is right in front of the entrance.
Good evening with a large party for a birthday celebration. Staff are excellent and even though under a lot of pressure, they were professional and made sure the party were happy even though a couple of the dishes served were not up to standardtemperature they dealt with it right away. They also kept the tables clear of finished meals and asked the party if everything was o.k on a regular basis. Food was tasty and reasonably priced, considering the price rises every business are having to cover. Worth looking for deals as we had a good deal with main meals.
Really great customer service from Hannah , she was buzzing around all night looking after all tables including bringing out birthday cakes to large parties as well as looking after us with a smile and friendly chat. Food was good too. Only challenge was parking but good to see they were busy.
Just such a let down. These types of places used to be great for some good value food. There seems to be no care now with the food. Steaks never cooked to how you want it. Not even any seasoning when cooked. Bland. Boring. The sides never come out with the plate so by the time your side arrives you'll already be more than half way through your dish. Will not be returning. Been let down too many times now.
Visited the Royal George today mid afternoon with a friend. Both had sirloin steak and chips, cooked medium and desserts to follow. No complaints at all, food tasted lovely and everything was hot. Staff really friendly and helpful. Plus very good value for money. Will definitely go again.
Food was lovely but tables took forever to be cleared. Sat down at 5.30 ate around 6.15 and was still waiting to order pudding at 7.10. Not normally one to complain but we had a 2 yr old with us
The past couple of Fridays we have had family birthday meals at the Royal George Colchester road the first was on the 24th March which we experienced a few disappointing issues .the second was Friday the 31st March which turned out to be a total different experience we could not fault the way everything was handled right down to the waitress rachael who in our opinion was first class her whole mannerism was excellent. This young lady needs to be rewarded for her excellence ways when looking after her customers especially when there was alot of us nothing was to much for her keep up the good work .and not forgetting the two excellent bar staff members on both evenings .thank you very much ..
Due to allergies we booked , preordered and paid for christmas dinner. Took ages to be seated. Brought out 5 starters for 4 people. Mains arrived. Parsnips rock hard,sprouts rock hard. Complained so given fresh rock hard parsnips that had been under heatlamp too long. 5 desserts arrived for 4 people.cheesecake had sponge base instead of biscuit base. When asked for the bill was told they had made a mistake when prepaying so given an extra £40 bill. Overall it was £200 badly spent for a christmas meal that didnt come up to standard expected. Will be a long time before we go back there. This is 2nd bad meal we have had there. The waiting staff were run off their feet as obviously not enough staff on duty for number if guests booked in. They tried their best but were just over welmed but sheer numbers. The management needs to up their game or will be loosing more customers very quickly.
