It has been completely reformed in the last 6 months or so. Little things make a big difference and seeing simple things like drinks in the fridge to purchase and variety of stock on offer go a long way. They seem to be continually adding things now and it is obvious they are trying to make it a welcoming place for all types of gamers. I have seen groups playing DnD, magic the gathering, just using it as a space to chill, and last time I was there it seemed like they were gearing up to open a small retro video game section of some sort. My only suggestion would be to try and increase the number of board games on offer for people to play. But I am aware that this is likely down to donations. Staff are all great, friendly and welcoming. Definitely a place I would recommend.
This is quite large and there was plenty of space available. There weren't as many games available to play as one might expect for a place of this size. I didn't see an accessible entrance as we came down a large flight of stairs which 2 of our group struggled with. There are toilets available accessible on the same level as the main room but they're not checked regularly - we had to ask for toilet paper, and the toilets weren't very clean. The main gaming area is large with plenty of different sized tables. There is a small shelf with games to play, and there is a selection available to buy. Snacks and drinks hot and cold are available to buy. £9 for a coffee and 2 hot chocolates, We had a nice time playing a game but the venue was rather messy.
The staff know what they are talking about when it comes to what kind of games they have available. They have different nights playing everything from d&d to magic the gathering and if they don't have a thing what you are looking for they will try and look for something similar. There always adding dates to cater for more people to play different types of games They have a good selection of food and drink and a few snacks. If you are vigen the also have a small selection to choose from.
Drinks a bit pricey for what you get but it's a nice atmosphere. Nice chill staff and a nice calm place to get a coffee although I don't play table top games it's cool to see other people's
Now that it has new management Geek Retreat is great! Staff that care and are really friendly with a great playing space right in the middle of town, it's probably my favourite and most convenient place to play Commander!
Really friendly and helpful staff, very chilled out atmosphere, food and drinks available on site. If your into D&D it's the place for you as people play regularly.
The staff are wonderful, they always make you feel comfortable. I can't express enough how enjoyable this places if you ever need a place to go and feel wanted I can't recommend this place enough. And food is really nice as well well my personal recommendation is the Rainbow Dash milkshake.
Been playing magic here for the past couple of weeks, staff are lovely and really helpful. The bathroom could do with a bit more upkeep though.
Friendly staff, free board games to play, inclusive & relaxing atmosphere, milkshake was delicious! No complaints. I would 100% visit again!
Very friendly staff. loved the diversity of knowledge of the products and they knew exactly what they where talking about.
