This is a highly convenient transit hub, especially for those flying in or out of Gatwick. The direct access from the airport terminals makes it easy to catch a train without too much hassle. The station itself is well-organized and clearly signposted, so even if you’re not familiar with it, you can navigate it fairly easily.nnThere’s a good variety of train options, with frequent services to London and other parts of the UK, which is a major plus. The trains are generally on time, and the platforms are easy to reach. However, during peak times, the station can get quite crowded, and it might be a bit challenging to find a seat on some trains, particularly during rush hour.nnIn terms of amenities, there’s a decent selection of shops and cafes to grab something quick while waiting, though it could benefit from a bit more seating in the waiting areas. Overall, Gatwick Railway Station does a great job of keeping things efficient, but a little extra comfort and space would elevate the experience further.
My train was delayed for 20 mins then changed platforms as the train was pulling in. The train then left the station while passengers where try to cross over the platform leaving no time to change over platforms. This was at 1:50 in the morning leaving a family and serval individuals stranded untill 2:30am when the next train to Brighton would be. When the station staff where asked what was going to happen or what they where going to do they said they were going to contact some people and then dissappeared. Hung round and tried to find them to see if they were any help. Nope. Then had to pay £70 for an uber home instead as I had been traveling since the early hours and needed to get home. Absolutely shocking staff and station in general. Awful awful experience. If I could give no starts I would.
Busiest station ever, and I got confused during my first journey. And now got used to it!!! The place is always clean and tidy, and I always amaze the best platforms due to their cleanliness.nBest one, if anyone plans to travel from the Gatwick airport. Easy to get access to the airport once we reach the station! Most importantly, they have a covered seating area, and it is always good to wait for the trains to arrive at the station.nI have never experienced any delays in the trains, even if I miss my train, within ten mins interval I can find another one to reach the destinations for sure!!!
Super rude staff with a huge power struggle. I’ve never been so stressed out just trying to get home. The person in charge kept invading my personal space, pointing their finger in my face multiple times, and repeating: “This is my station and I set the rules here.” They even threatened: “ Im a superior here and You will not go home from here if she says so.”nnThe staff shouted at us for pressing the door button a minute before the train’s departure, then followed us around the station and even called security on us. I have never had such a stressful experience simply trying to get home. Because of a train strike, we already had a long journey ahead, but we were held back for an extra 40 minutes for no reason—just to show “who’s in charge”—and as a result, we missed two trains.
I am 100% going to give this a 5 star as looking at the development, this station will soon be fantastic! It has loads of wide ticket gates for when you enter and exit the station which just makes sense, a range of entrances and exits and also it has quite wide platforms and a range of services that go all the way to Brighton And London Victoria! The Gatwick express is great! And it also contains the GWR Service all the way to Reading Via Guilford!nnThis station is great and it is very very quick to get to the main airport building and with a shuttle to connect you to the south terminal quickly!nnOverall, The New Ticket Machine placement is great as well! Once all the development is done, this station will be absolutely magnificent! A 5 star station with step free access and plenty of space to get around with tons and tons of trains every single part of the day!
