What a lovely place. So much to see and do. Scenic drives ... great cafe..lovely walks...great bird hides...wish we didn't live 7 hours away! Had a great day out here whilst on holiday...unfortunately we didn't get to do the dark skies

We go into the Galloway Forest Park to wild camp in our motor home. It's a nice setting for us as we like the reasonable peace and quiet we get there. You can see wild goats and deer, and the nights are very dark because of the lack of light pollution. There is also a lot of trails for bicycles, and hikers, with some really nice sight seeing. Go see for yourself.:-)

We walked some of the walks available from Kirroughtree visitor centre. Could be improved with longer paths available for buggies/wheelchairs as we love walking but could not get very far with our buggy. After swapping out for baby-carrier, we managed 2 of the available easy and moderate walks (orange, purple). Beautiful forest!

Fantastic range of activities and scenery within the park. Very relaxing short walks, strenuous hill walks and plenty of mountain bike trails. Excellent dark sky events and really loved the red deer range, kite feeding station and wild goats.

Scenery, open spaces, clear paths, good visitor centres. Good weather always makes a difference but in the sun it is quite spectacular. Note, car park £3 per day.
