Can't get in touch with the surgery, go into reception who tell you to go online and the online service is never open no matter what time of day I try! Always end up seeing a different doctor and having to start from the beginning of treatment over and over again... Having to re-explain myself due to lack of note taking. Multiple blood tests where they didn't test for what the doctor said. Always having to fight for my prescriptions which are repeat prescriptions but can't get them!
The doctors I have seen - Dr Byass and Dr Marshall, have been thoroughly knowledgeable, caring and professional. They’ve been particularly understanding of my mental health condition not always the case, and tried to understand things from my perspective. I have never felt rushed or unheard. My wife has been equally complementary about the other doctors she has seen. My issue with the surgery is how difficult it can be to contact, and how long it can take to get an appointment. When my anxiety is acute, I and other people like me don’t always have the concentration to fill in a detailed online questionnaire, and the telephone wait time can be horrendous. What do people do who struggle with or can’t access modern technology? That said, when you do see a doctor, they are exemplary.
The gp in general from going there in person has always been welcoming and respectful. However after COVID and the aftermath of it. The GP has gone downhill with appointments over the phone and apperantly I was told I would be waiting five working days for an appointment to be made available even though that's a problem due to working every nearly six five days a week barely time to drop everything and go and it's more bleak and difficult to get referred to a midwife by them now too ..Overall needs a slight improvement.
When you can actually speak to a doctor face to face, they are nice, but having someone answer the phone seems to be impossible. I’ve been on hold for over an hour, so far, which is ridiculous. The surgery has gone pear shaped since it merged with Haxby Group. You can’t speak to anyone, see anyone, get an appointment etc
Tried booking an urgent appointment for help with a skin condition I’ve had for four years and I’m told a routine appointment would work better for the GP, and there’s an 8-week wait for that. COVID backlog, apparently.
When I have been treated by the clinical staff they have all been great and made me feel at ease, the problem is trying to get an appointment! 3 days in a row I've been on hold for over an hour and no one has picked up the phone; it is physically impossible to speak to anyone on the phone and using the online system isn't much better. I requested an appointment for my 6 year old 4 weeks ago and still haven't been seen, after going in today to see why I hadn't heard anything they told me it could be another 3 weeks before she gets an appointment. It's really scary being unable to speak to anyone; especially struggling with mental health and needing things to feel simple.
Doctors are great but not too keen on a diabetic nurse not very helpful and some of the receptionists are terrible I need a bit more training
The receptionists and doctors could not be lovelier. The receptionists do their best to accommodate you, and get you an appointment as soon as they possibly can. You never know which doctor you will get, but every single doctor is friendly, thorough, and you never feel rushed/fobbed off if you have complicated symptoms. One of the things I am most grateful for in my life is being a patient at Gale Farm. I have total faith in them, and feel extremely well looked after.
I've been at this doctors for over 20 years and have seen a rapid decline in the reception department, I have no idea what they are payed to do? But I can assure you that answering the phone is well and truly not done. I needed a repeat prescription for my asthma inhaler which cannot be bought over the counter. No answer at all Thursday and today Friday From 3pm until closing, nobody answered the phone at all so now I'm to wait over the weekend without it. If a computer signs you in now by the tap of a screen. Is this to say there are no reception staff anymore??
The receptionist answering the phones is a very very rude and unhelpful women! I don't know how she has that job if I'm honest. I'm a very concerned mother for my son and his health at the moment and she couldn't care less.. God help any patient who calls this surgery for serious medical help.. Ok im just replying to the response iv just got from the surgery for this review below.. so now I'm strange? Wow.. no my sick son is a patient at your surgery though.. so do not tell me to delete this HONEST review about your terrible receptionist you had on yesterday! Who clearly hates her job! Kind Staff?? Haha please start recording the phone calls and then tell me you still think your receptionist is kind! And I do not have the wrong surgery either my son is a patient at gale farm surgery and it was me who called for him to receive no help or care what so ever! SHOCKING
