Absolutely fab fish and chips. Only came here because I was ringing bells at St Donard's down the road, but it's a place I'll be very glad to go back to! I received a massive portion of fish, chips and gravy, and it took me 15 minutes finishing it! I can safely say it's one of the best I've had in the City.
My Granny and Granda have been ordering from here religiously, every Friday from the 1960's. My Granny put her order in the other week and they had waited for over an hour which can happen on a busy Friday night. My Granny gave them a ring just to check on where the order was, not to complain, not with an attitude, just to simply ask the question. The young fella that answered the phone first she said was lovely, very polite, he then passed her to the owner. The owner was very rude to her over the phone and she was just upset about the whole situation. So much so that they will now get there chippy elsewhere on a Friday night. Its disappointing that you've lost probably one of your most loyal customers.
Popped in for lunch with a friend. Haven’t been here in years. Two cod lunches with curry sauce. Now I know they are lunch specials but the handful of chips and size of the fish don’t offer value for money in my opinion. Chips hard and not that nice . Fish was ok. Not the place I remember as a kid.
Just ordered, 2 regular chips @ £3.20 a portion, tasted nice but ridiculously small portions for the price. Only just 1 scoop per tray. Disappointed in poor value but like I stated they did taste good.
Decent food but random hours and never seems open when you want or need it
Can't complain, conveniently located and is generally busy. Hit or miss depending on the time but at the right moment, tasty grub, no complaints for the fish, sausages, burgers or chips. As usual, chippys outdo the American fast food in price, quantity and good old craic.
Just had a takeaway from here and the large chip was like a kids chip and the batter was greasy and very crispy and over done was not worth the money and I defo wont be back
You always get the best fish and chips here at Fryar Tuck - everything is freshly cooked as you order it, it takes a little longer but it is worth it and the taste leaves you wanting more, there is a lovely taste to the chips I think it must be because they use lard rather than oil and the fish are lovely and thick and nicely cooked. We have been using this chippy for years.
Food was very good service wasn't spectacular but not sure what people expect from a choppy. Food was warm and well priced and I got a friendly hello and goodbye from the two girls working there. Would definately recommend their burgers, fantastic food and good value
An excellent traditional 'chippy' located at the Bloomfield Road roundabout. Open for well over half a century, the Fryar Tuck continues to serve up delicious takeaway cuisine in the traditional British 'fish and chips' style. A must visit for everyone!
