I went to Fresh to find my student accommodation whilst studying for my Master's degree in Swansea University. For what is a stressful enough time during such an intense year, thanks to Fresh, I was able to have no worries when it came to my student house. Their wonderful, friendly team ensured that I was able to find a property suited to my needs in a timely and orderly manner, as well as being there in the event of any questions I had during the year. With so many things going on during the years of student life, having everything run as smooth as possible is the key as the last thing we need is something else to worry about. I am speaking for myself and many others in saying Fresh are absolutely brilliant in helping the process go as well as it possibly can. I have recommended Fresh to a number of friends and acquaintances for both personal and professional reasons and will continue to do so for many years to come! :)

AVOID FRESH AT ALL COSTS!! An appalling company that deserve to be blacklisted. We have had a ridiculous amount of issues with Fresh since signing with them last year and feel that a warning to prospective tenants is needed. One key issue occurred even before we had officially moved into the property. Our contract states that we could leave boxes of belongings in the house over the summer before we officially move in, so my housemates and I did just that. The belongings were placed in our respective bedrooms and the doors were locked after we left. When we went to collect these belongings, it was to my housemates horror that they had been stolen - items of expensive clothing and designer handbags were taken. After numerous attempts of contacting Fresh, they deflected all blame and passed the responsibility onto their cleaners. Some of the items were never returned. Similarly, we have gone for weeks without a working oven or shower because Fresh quite simply cannot be bothered to send out the workmen to come and fix things when they go wrong, thus meaning we have incurred extra expense elsewhere having to buy meals that didn’t need to be cooked in the oven and having to shower at our friend’s properties. When we initially let Fresh know about these issues, we received no reply. It took over a month of repeated emails to Fresh before they could eventually be bothered to get someone out to come and sort out the issues. An issue of damp and mould was reported within the very first week of us moving into the property, yet 7 months later, the issue still remains prominent. These complications breach section 11 of The Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 which reiterates the fact that the most important obligation held by a landlord or managing body is to carry out basic repairs. Fresh are quite clearly incompetent and their deplorable nature is something they should be ashamed of. Equally, as per our contract, it states that Fresh will make exceptions for payments when the student loan comes in past the date when rent is due - however, the company do not make these arrangements and have responded in an appallingly rude manner when asked to clarify the policy – attachments of correspondence will be posted. By law, landlords and managing bodies have to give 24 hours’ notice before visiting the property, however, on numerous occasions, employees of Fresh have turned up on the doorstep expecting to be let into the property for viewings – this again breaches s.11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985. I am in anticipation that after this review Fresh will make further excuses to avoid returning our deposits to myself and my housemates, despite our property being in an immaculate and perfect condition. Fresh don’t think about the welfare of students, the financial struggle that students are in at university and instead it’s all about the money that goes into their own pockets. It’s beyond a joke that Fresh call themselves a “student letting company” and do not for one moment think that they will help with any issues that you might have. Unless you are prepared to wait for months when you have an issue, then do not bother signing any student tenancy with Fresh. Their lack of support and empathy for the student population is disgusting and their office staff are rude and abrupt, treating students like dirt on the bottom of their shoes. As a company, they give a great spiel about the ethos of the business and the fact that they are a student orientated organisation - please, for your own sake, ignore these lies. Every single student I’ve spoken to about Fresh has reiterated their incompetence and quite frankly I am appalled that such an inept and unprofessional business can still go on treating students like their inferior and substandard. Don’t risk being mugged off and scammed by Fresh and please take your business to other more reputable estate agents.

Initially had problems signing a tenancy agreement as the house we were interested in was signed by someone else without them telling us. Property we are in now is old and has problems, but Fresh have managed to sort out the majority of these quickly (some are out of their control and up to the landlord..). Staff are friendly and helpful, in particular James. Mixed experience with them. Communication is often slow and misinformed.

Avoid. They have lovely properties, but you will find yourself struggling to deal with the staff every step of the way. They seem to think students have less rights than other private tenants. They use a tenancy deposit scheme, but then refuse to use the mediation service. I've had ambiguous responses as to why part of my deposit is being withheld.... Also the complaints procedure is non existent.

Fantastic service and very friendly and responsive staff was our experience. There were no issues from start to finish. We had to contact a couple of times once regarding the washing machine I believe and staff member Rebecca was around within the hour. We were very impressed and would not hesitate to use these again. 5*
