I don't like to leave a bad review, but this had to be said. This was possibly the worst take out meal I have ever had. I want to give them another chance as I believe everyone deserves one and people have their bad days, but... this was too far to warrant the risk. The crispy noodles were just uncooked noodles in some juice, the rating for this place makes no sense to me. Nor does the lack of good Chinese restaurants in Yate.
WORST MEAL FROM HERE, EVER, AND THE LAST. Large order, pancake rolls, under cooked, chop suey swimming in a vinegar tasting red sauce, special chow mein was slimy in a soup type sauce, sweet and sour chicken had a weird taste, bbq ribs were all fat and gristle, salt and pepper chicken portions have been made a lot smaller, although prices haven't. Been a customer here for years, worst food ever, spoke to manager who told us to return it but it was already in the bin, i offered to bring the bin bag down, manager said he wanted it back as whole meals and not as rubbish, weird request. So they have lost 4 customers from this family at 4 addresses, PLEASE SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
We had a takeaway from here last Saturday 13th aug thought we’d give it a try but I have to say it’s definitely one of the worst Chinese takeaways we’ve ever had… there’s nothing about our takeaway I can say that was nice! The chilli beef tasted like it was cooked with tomato ketchup! And the chicken chow mein had hardly no chicken in it! The sausage looked white! Definitely not edible! And to top it off they took our note and didn’t even give us change! I won’t be using them ever again!

This was the first time I had ordered from Fortune House and I wasn't disappointed. Ordering was really easy, and my order was ready to collect very quickly 15 minutes. When I collected my order, the staff were incredibly welcoming. Everything was clean, and with such a bright waiting area any lack of cleanliness would have been easily seen, but it was spotless. The constant stream of regular customers were greeted by the friendly staff, which was great to see. My food order was packed well, well cooked and simply delicious. My brother came over when he heard that I'd ordered and was equally impressed. I'd upload some photos but I was famished and tucked in straight away, leaving nothing on the plate. I'll be sure to post some pictures next time... which there definitely will be.
We have struggled, due to our location, to get a Chinese takeaway delivery! The customer service was excellent, delivery was super quick. Our meal was hot and very delicious. We would recommend and definitely be ordering again!
Took hour and a half to get to me food was missing from the order and was cold wouldn't eat from there again
Friendly, speedy, and they are the only Chinese I've seen in ages that do a lamb curry! All points win.
A nice local Chinese Takeaway, the food is always really flavoursome and tasty. Friendly staff. Easy to order delivery from over the phone and only £1 delivery charge if you’re local. When food does get delivered it is still hot and you don’t have to re-heat any of it. More often or not they give us some free prawn crackers. We have only ever had one issue where they forgot an item off our ordered that they delivered but we rang them and the delivered the missing item to us within 5 minutes. Their quarter duck is lovely and their Fortune House Special Chow Mein is amazing!
I have ordered a take away from here for my partner Judy several times and each time she has been happy...To all the guys reading this, and we no how important getting the Chinese meal correct :-
