A big and quite impressive old fort from middle of the 18th century sits on a small headland sticking out in the inlet towards the city of Inverness. Good strategic place and modern defense for that time would've made this fort hard to defeat. Still in use as a garrison for the military but open for the public. Nice visit if you're nearby.

So steeped in history. Worth a visit. Also make sure you go the Seaforth Highlander museum as well.

Don't support the highlanders military fetish. Love not guns. Anyone who chooses to be in the army doesn't deserve special respect for their life choice.

The best part is the museum building and the artifacts on display depicting the history of the regiment. The grounds are OK for a wander and you get great views if you are lucky and the weather is good.

Very interesting place, very cool seeing some of the guys from the regiment around the base. I would definitely recommend getting the audio guide while you walk around. The man who was behind the counter at the gift shop/ticket place was so nice when we visited. So helpful, I'd stupidly forgotten my historic Scotland card and he said that he could get my name off the database. Unfortunately I didn't catch his name but wonderful customer service.
