Fitzgeralds of Sandycove
"Run by the Fitzgerald Family since 1960, with the late Charlie & Annie Fitzgerald having previously owned the Temple Bar in Dublin.A warm and friendly atmosphere awaits with a great range of mainstream beers, craft beers, wines and spirits making it a great option for locals and tourists alike. The décor features many of Irelands great authors but none more so than the great James Joyce, author of Ulysses, who once lived around the corner in the Martello Tower, which now acts as a museum to his works. One of Dublin's last Victorian era pubs with terrific red brick exterior dating back to the visit of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1861"

I can't believe anyone could give this remarkable place the locals call it Fitzi's fewer than five stars. It's one of the nicest bars I've been to anywhere the world, located in a gorgeous brick building with beautiful wood decor throughout. Friendly locals and staff. Enjoy a perfectly-poured pint of Guinness for just €5.50, plus they have excellent pizza including a delicious €12 vegan option, which is a huge meal for one or a generous snack for two. I might decide to move to Sandycove for a winter just so I can become a regular here—it's that good.
To me, this looks like a typical local pub. Nice selection of beers on the tap, cozy atmosphere, and friendly staff. If I could add one more star it would be for Beamish which I prefer to the omnipresent Guinness.
I haven't been here in years. Dropped in for a pint on my way home. Guinness 00 on tap. Yahoo. Great service and atmosphere. Dog allowed in pub. I'll be backService: 5/5
A truly lovely pub, great service, great pints and one of the most beautiful bars around. If you are a Joyce fan you'll love it even more. They do some ok pizzas if you are hungry after a swim at the 40ft too.
A joyful atmosphere on Blooms Day the 16th of June. Live music by visiting musician Helen Kay. I enjoyed a nicely pulled and served Guinness.Food: 3/5
Always great here. Previous 1 star review with no comment text must have been a "pocket" review. Fair play to Will for noticing and getting in touch.
Friendly staff and fellow customers. Decent beer. No food the day I visited.Service: 5/5
It’s a pretty place. though calling in for a midweek drink isn’t so great. we ordered a couple of Heineken’s, but honestly we felt like a total inconvenience, and we were in the way. We wandered up the road to the eagle, and it was quite different.
One of my favourite locals. Lovely beers. Staff are great.
Fantastic local bar. Stopped by after enjoying an evening walk along the seafront. Probably the busiest bar I’ve been in outside of the city centre, especially for midweek. Brilliant atmosphere for the football match that on. Not sure who was playing but the whole pub was singing at the end. Great selection of gins and hubby recommends the Guinness. Excellent service with smiles. Will return soon
