So ordered the fish and chip with small hot and spicy chicken wings. My friend order fish and chips and other friend ordered large sweet and spicy Chicken wings. I think the chef just didn’t want to make a separate bowl for the hot and spicy cause I got the same wings as my friend just in a small portion. I asked for no mushy peas with my fish and I was asked would I like a different side instead and I asked could I have the mash and I was told yes. For €18 something for the fish and chips was so not worth value for money. The portion of fish was so small it looked like a kids portion. Then asked for the bill and to be seen to be charge for the mash potatoe that I asked if I would like a different side instead of the peas. It was a lovely small piece of fish but I wouldn’t be back in a rush. Fish looks like a big piece but it wasn’t
By far, the best fish and chips in Sandycove. It helps that the fish is a fresh piece of Cod. It helps that the batter is nicely balanced in fallout and crisp without be chewy . The fact the the Cod was perfect - firm, moist, flavourful and flaky sets this dish apart. From the look of the other dish being served, I can’t wait to try more of the menu.
We just stopped by to have a beer and listen to the live music. Both were great I must say. Nice atmosphere of a local pub quite a contrast to the overcrowded center of Dublin.Atmosphere: 5/5
We were walking by one day with our dogs and thought we’d pop in to see if they were allowed in too, fully expecting to be refused. To our delight, we were told yes they’re dog friendly! Not only that but the new owners have done a beautiful job of bringing this old pub back to life. It has a lovely atmosphere, staff are friendly and efficient and the place feels warm and inviting. We haven’t eaten here yet but plan to soon. It’s so nice to see more places becoming dog friendly. Yes the pints are a bit pricier than elsewhere but it’s worth it for us. We’ll definitely be returning
WOW. We were blown away. The service, the atmosphere & most of all THE FOOD! Ian the manager made us feel like we were being looked after as his best regulars on our first visit. Salmon and scallops to start, out of this world. Risotto & Burger for mains to die for & the cocktails were expertly made. Will 100% be back, thanks guys
Value for money really isn’t what your gonna get here! It definitely lives up to their name the “greedy” eagle . €8.50 for a sliver of a sausage roll, calling it gourmet . Unfortunately won’t go back for food.
Outstanding service and customer care, super professional, courteous and friendly at all times. Noting that staff were thin on the ground Tuesday night but all the team only 3 across bar, lounge and food made it work, great crew and dedication to their respective roles on show here. Ian bar man is super customer focused and dedicated to his work I have recently seen other locations in the area less effective with x3 the staff. Excellent, keep up the good work!
Had a fish and chips here last week with my Mam and we were blown away. It was so fresh…was heavenly. The peas were no ordinary mushy mush they had a hint of mint I think with whole peas in it. Try batter was just right and crispy but not heavy. Perfectly cooked. Then we had the crème brûlée and it was perfect, light enough not to fill you up too much and tasty end to a fab meal. The food felt a notch or two way above any other pub food we have had. Will be back when in the area again. Thanks we appreciate the standard.
Would have been 5 stars if not for the incredibly loud music and football match. Really enjoyed the food, staff were excellent, fantastic that we could bring our dog but the ear-bashing 80’s remix at 7.30pm on a Wednesday meant we couldn’t hear each other. So disappointing, especially as it wasn’t particularly busy or late. Sadly I’m not sure that we’ll be back, there are other quieter options.
Great place! We went for a meal on a Friday evening. We had a pate to start with and my wife had a wagyu beef burger while I chose duck for the main course. Food was delicious and served hot to the table. The place offers good selection of draft beers and cocktails, which we enjoyed. Place was warm, had a gret atmosphere and staff were very professional, friendly and made sure that we were looked after, particularly Camilla, who while being very busy had a moment for everyone in the restaurant. We'll be definitely back soon.
