I was firstly off put by the 1 star hygiene rating on the door from January 2023 inspection which is improvement necessary for Hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and MAJOR improvement necessary on Management of food safety which is very concerning especially for an establishment of that size! Needless to say we continued and had Sunday Roast which is the only food choice for Sunday. The service was pretty quick however the meal itself was a real disappointment. I had the duo of beef and pork both of which were a tough gristly texture. The vegetables were ok but there was hardly enough for all 4 of us. The biggest disappointment though was that there is just one roast potato shoved into the Yorkshire pudding. I have had any other roast dinner out that comes with just the one but I don’t know, maybe they are a delicacy in West Wales. It’s a shame because that was the nicest part! Apple crumble for dessert which was a bit bland but good enough. Despite all this the service was good and friendly and the pub itself is quite decent inside with both old and more modern seating areas and interesting artwork too. It’s just a real shame it lets itself down on the food and hygiene element as there are other lunches around you get for the same price but much better. Hopefully this low hygiene rating kickstarts them into action but that has yet to begin!
Yesterday evening we had a meal here and the food was fantastically cooked. I had the lasagne and without a word if a lie, I have to say that it's the best lasagne that I have had in and pub or restaurant and I have had a fair few. To whoever made and cooked it, full marks , it was lovely as was the whole meal. The surroundings were lovely and the lady who served us was also lovely and made us feel very welcome. We drove from Llanbydder to try the Ffostrasol Arms out for the first time and we will definitely be returning in the future. I know this is only a side note, but the toilets were spotless. I would definitely recommend the Ffostrasol Arms for good quality food at a reasonable price and lovely clean surroundings and first class service.
Nice pub, good food and lovely landlords. Quite a modern pub really and quite big for a small West Wales village. Good pool and dart area, good size eating area too and plenty of parking. Modern decor but still has a nice pub feel. I had a post funeral wake there and the landlords were great. Forgot that our group was booked in though but they made up for it and soon sorted everybody out with an additional food order quickly which was impressive really! It is West Wales though so a few Welsh words and greetings will get you a long long way in this part of the world. You will be made to feel very welcome what ever lingo you speak!
Good pub on the highway with open fire, pool table and wonderful restaurant food. Chicken dish, daily pie special and ribs excellent. Could do with a tidy up at front removing the gigantic ashtray at front door and improve front lighting to give it a more welcoming feel.
Went for Sunday lunch.. Slightly disappointing.. 2 roast potato's between us.. Small portions.. Shame as it looks a nice place, great landlord and i had no issue with the welcome, ambience or service.
Lovely hot Sunday lunch, beautiful restaurant, professionally run but will a Welsh homely atmosphere, you will not be disappointed
Good food at good prices. Friendly locals who made us outsiders welcome. Good service. Even from the "waitress" who worked in the quarry trade as his day job.
Been to a fair few pubs and let me tell you, it doesn’t get much better than this! Great food, very welcoming and lovely waitresses, brilliant service great experience. Props to Arthur great chap!
Very good pub, but the food was absolutely EXCELLENT. Home cooked and fresh, and absolutely delicious. Service was really good too. We'll definitely be returning when we're near that part of Wales.
On a random Saturday night as we turned up! We were greeted and provided a table to eat and awesome food Great hospitality too
