Been using these fellas for years for a variety of cars and I've never had bad service. They do get very busy so you might not get in on the day or day after but they do everything to accommodate you. Always been very well priced and the price they quote is what I've always paid.
I have used this garage for a few years now and I’d always felt like they did a good job and their prices were fair until this last year.nnI had my service in May 2024 where they did a ‘full service’ and there were ‘no issues’ with my truck. In September 2024 while holidaying in Cornwall my truck started to make a scraping noise, the break pads were down to metal my truck had only done 6000 miles since its service and when going to speak to the garage they stated that they must have been alright at the time of service. Both my discs and break pads needing changing which had to be done down in Cornwall.nnIt doesn’t end there. Having had a conversation with Jim as I was thinking my chain potentially might need changing, unfortunately his garage was unable to do it which is fair enough. So I took my truck to another garage for checking the chain. I left my truck overnight with the new garage so they could hear it on a cold start when they called they asked when I last got the oil changed, which I stated I had a full service in the May. This garage decided to change the oil filter and the oil that they described as ‘like tar’ and would be shocked if it had ever been changed. I’ve also had garages tell me that the chains in these trucks are usually very good and out live the vehicle if they have regular oil changes and are well serviced, which to my knowledge my truck had.nnUnfortunately I’m now in a situation where I wouldn’t trust express tyres and would never recommend them as they have now caused me a lot of stress and money as I’m now situation where no garage wants to change a chain. This could have been avoided if they’d just serviced my truck correctly.nn***Update to owners response***nnI’m currently without my vehicle as I’m struggling to find a mechanic that will take on the work and risk involved in changing the timing chain. I agree it’s difficult to prove what was actually carried out on the full service but nothing was gained by the other mechanic advising me of their findings and it’s a shame I wasn’t offered the tracing of parts fitted when my failing brake pads and discs were reported. In my opinion after a full service one unexpected related issue can be forgiven but a second questionable.
Excellent prices! I initially had a timing belt fitted and asked what brand they used. The brand was OEM INA, so I was happy. As I always do, I asked for the old parts back with the packaging for the new parts, which they do as standard. Next was a replacement clutch, which was a conversion back to DMF from SMF. I specifically asked for a Sachs kit OEM, which they duly fitted. When I mentioned the gearbox oil hadn't been changed, they said they'd do this within the price of the clutch. Sure enough, I was given the old clutch back in the Sachs box. Having had a bad experience at another garage where they promised a Sachs clutch but fitted an inferior aftermarket item which failed at 29,000m, I wanted to be sure the item I specified had been fitted. Overall, a very good experience of this garage, and very good prices. The only thing I would say is that they do get extremely busy which can be stressful. On my initial call for the timing belt, I was told they weren't booking anything in until further notice - I'm guessing this was down to staff absence. When I called in unexpectedly with a query about the function of the new clutch 2 days after it was fitted, I caught the lads at a bad time. Nontheless, the bald gent still jumped in the car and tested the clutch, despite being up to his armpits in work. I have already recommended this garage to family and friends, but do be prepared to work with them respectfully in getting booked in as they are extremely busy. Very pleased guys!
