Our flight to Liverpool was cancelled last minute along with our car hire with another company. A last minute scramble resulted in us arriving at Manchester with a new booking with Europcar. Reading the reviews now, I’d hazard a guess to say that few of the positive reviews make it on to here, but rest assured we had no issues whatsoever. The check-in was easy, we simply said, “No” to the optional extras we didn’t need no pressure from staff and were given the keys to an almost new vehicle in excellent condition. We have not been charged any further fees since and have since used Europcar elsewhere.

Beware of hidden fees. Booked through a third party and have my own rental insurances. However, this company does not accept any outside insurance and you have to pay on pick up, a extra $200!!! Travel a great deal and no other company has ever had this rule. First and last time using this company, don’t do it.

I booked a vehicle for 3 days through a third-party, had zero issues, and can only speak 100% positively about the experience! On arrival I was warmly welcomed by a gentleman with the name of Cash, who was completely honest and never tried to "sell" me anything extra or convince me my insurance through the third-party was not valid. I was offered a vehicle upgrade, but that was it. I collected an almost new VW Golf in perfect condition, and as I noticed a few scuffs on the wheels, they were noted down in my policy without any hesitation. The vehicle return was equally as quick, and another friendly fellow performed a quick check, saw that everything was in order and I was done in 5 minutes. Overall I can honestly say that with the 3 different Europcar staff I interacted with, they were all very friendly and extremely efficient. I would not hesitate to again book with them!  Update: I saw that the security deposit was noted by my bank, but no money was ever actually taken from my account. Two days after I returned the vehicle this deposit was cleared, and I was charged nothing.

Awful experience. A privilege member until today who has hired many times before. At best incompetent, at worst dishonest. Lied too and overcharged. Deposit not refunded and additional days rental charged to my credit card in spite of the car being returned ahead of the return time agreed and confirmed at the time of pick up. If I had not cross checked my Visa statement I would not have known and money would have been taken without my knowledge. Contacting the Customer Service team is a waste of time. Be wary of offers of the upgrade and check your vehicle carefully before accepting, especially during the hours of darkness. There are other options available at Manchester airport. Avoid Europcar if possible as I will be doing in  the future.

Everything has been smooth, except the waiting part during pickup. No doubt the people are lovely, very hospitable and kind. But I had to wait for an hour just to go through a 5-10 min transaction, as only 2 out of 6 customer counters were functioning.

The young man at Europcar Manchester Airport was so  very welcoming. The whole rental experience went very smoothly from the initial rental process, collecting the car, which was as advertised and delivering the car back to Manchester airport.  My experience over many years with Europcar has been more than good. Thanks to all at Europcar.

Normally they must give us a small vw golf,but guy who was employee-when entering through the entrance door, the last seat,he was very good and give us a very nice and big Opel.We also get back our deposit money.We was really happy about car.Thank you! Hirer be vigilant!  The reception very friendly will offer extra options or changes to the vehicle without explaining the extra cost or in fact they are extra options, but explain by savings to be made??  Will also try to sell you excess waiver cover even after they are aware you have paid for the insurance when the booking was made.  I only realised I was being charged extra when the amount on the payment terminal was displayed.  I have given 2 stars and not 1because the person at the drop of area was friendly and helpful with advice regarding the pickup and drop off procedures.

I have been Scammed. I'm so upset after my experience at Europcar Manchester Airport. I rented a car for five days. The agent tried to upsell me better cars but I stuck with what I ordered. He came across a pleasant guy and professional. He had no problem with me sticking with my original car. However then he asked if I'd like to pay in advance a full tank of fuel and the cost would be 67.70 pounds which is €78, he said its 12p per litre cheaper than the local garage and that I could save a lot of money by doing this. This he said would mean I could return the car without re fueling at a nearby garage as I usually do, I always returned like for like so this was new to me. He basically made it sound like I was mad not to take it. I asked for example, if I came back with half a tank of fuel would I be refunded half the amount that I paid in advance and he said yes I would.  My daughter is witness to this. So then it seemed like a good offer. I returned the car and had half a tank of fuel in it, the guy who checked the car confirmed that amount. A few days later the full €78 has been taken out of my account. I was charged for a full tank of fuel although I returned it half full. So the agent lied, I am so upset. It is illegal to lie to customers to make a sale, I am owed approximately €40. If I was told that whatever was in the tank upon return was disregarded I would never have taken this deal. I want my refund based on your Agent lying to me. I have already reported this to customer service. Edit, they are refusing to refund me. So basically Europcar approve of their Agent lying to people to make a sale. I find that absolutely disgusting behaviour. I agreed to take this offer because the Agent told me a lie. I want my refund.

Charged for insurance we did not ask for £149.93 We already had insurance which we clearly told them - who takes out insurance twice? Beware this is a scam and Europcar is not interested when you contact them. They appear to be happy for their staff to cheat customers Will never use Europcar again!  What a ridiculous reply from Europcar There is obviously fraud going on her which should be investigated!!
