Erskine Bridge Hotel

Story

Erskine Bridge Hotel is on the banks of the River Clyde at Erskine, Renfrewshire. The hotel takes its name from the nearby Erskine Bridge. It opened in 1971. It was originally planned and owned by the oil company Esso. It was Scotland's second motor based hotel as Esso had already opened another unit in Edinburgh.OwnershipThe hotel started out as the Esso Motor Hotel of Erskine. Since then it has changed ownership three times. Esso sold the business to the Crest Hotel Group. Then it was sold to the Forte Group of hotels and then to its current owners the Cosmopolitan Hotel Group.ConstructionThe hotel was built by Daniel Construction Company at a cost of £1m. The on-site architects were Morris and Steedman. The hotel interior was designed by Cope Notter Design Associates. There is park and fly facilities for Glasgow Airport, gym, swimming pool and conference suites at the hotel. There was also a nine hole pitch and putt golf course. That land is now being used for car parking.

This place is no longer in use which is a shame as it's in a great location with great views over the river Clyde and close to the Erskine bridge and the M8.nI walked through the grounds recently and was sad to see broken windows, rubbish piled up and the once nice hotel going to ruin .
Surprisingly I really enjoyed my night here. The room was spotlessly clean. Superb view out the window.nGreat sized TV.nDinner was OK. Breakfast was good.nWiFi was useless in the room.nNot enough coffee and sugars.nBed was comfy enough, slept in a lot worse.nLacking electrical sockets near bed for. Charging a phone.nOnly one electric socket for kettle and had to sit this on the floor to use.nWould I stay here again? Yeah it's not bad for the money.nOh.... Very friendly staff here too.
Nice clean room. Good price fire one night stay. Hotel needs renovation. Green colour on the walls at the corridors. Who chooses this kind of colour it should be light colour which looks fresh and clean. Swimming pool and facilities around showers cloak rooms corridors and doors need renovation. Breakfast selection was poor but we were not hungry. We have to wait quite long for refilling empty plates and jugs with coffee and juices. We have to wait for clean plates and glasses. Tall blond lady at the restaurant seemed to be a bit irritated when we politely asked for food drinks or glasses and plates. But I think it’s her job to serve guests isn’t it? She should learn from staff at reception and swimming pool even lovely polite cleaners greetings to nice Polish lady who was cleaning first floor. This hotel is not bad not bad at all. Price is adequate to the quality. We can recommend this hotel for one night stay. This hotel has got huge potential, good location actually I could not see any river from my room but it’s not a problem nice building but it needs better management and a bit of money for renovation and fixing stuff around.
Staff were brilliant, very friendly.nRoom was good for the value very clean, bathroom was clean however the bath was stained, I'm not saying it was dirty just stained. Windows should have safety latches and could use a clean.nHeated Swimming pool was brilliant, however the steam room/sauna were closed and I was not aware of this untill I was in there.nThe grounds really need attention.nNice Hotel brilliant staff good value, I would stay again.
Had booked afternoon tea for four. Staff were stretched as there was an event on but we shown to a table in a room with only another table being used so no concerns re covid.nLarge pot of tea and one of coffee, the afternoon tea consisted of sandwiches cakes and scones which we enjoyed. The hotel is looking tired and dated but is in the process of being renovated.nThe price was good and I would recommend it.
