When they first opened in January I promptly signed up with a membership especially for the pool, disappointing there is no sauna or steam room but 2 squash courts!! Really surprised about the selection of choice here, then after providing many slots for lane swimming they now have changed this offering slots except Fridays 8.30pm and 9.pm to allow for training. I mean most of the public will be working in the mornings so this is not really a great time I mean if you get your hour swim, leave the pool at 10pm by the time you are changed go home wash your hair etc you are not in bed until after 11pm. Also, the pool is crowded due to reducing your slots I feel deceived, and I think once my first payment which finishes in Feb is done I won't be renewing or will consider carefully if things don't improve. All the staff are very young and ill experienced but are trying hard to keep up with the changes and poor management, I guess. Get a grip I say!!
I joined this gym 2 months ago having moved to Epping recently, I was waiting for the new site to open but as it was delayed I joined the old building. The building itself yes it’s outdated and small but everything you need is there. I’m more impressed with the community at the centre, I have been to several classes and the gym itself, the members and staff are friendly and helpful. When we relocate, it will be an added bonus to have a bigger space with new equipment but the people make the leisure centre a great experience.
A friend and I only came here from Hockley, near Southend to use the showers after having run the Epping Forest 10km. We had been prepared to pay for a day pass, but also wanted to use the swimming pool to make it more worthwhile. However, when we asked at reception, we were informed that there is no swimming pool. We explained what our intention had been, and the lady on reception very kindly allowed us to use their showers free of charge. We were extremely grateful for this as we wanted to stay in Epping for the afternoon as this is where my friend's dad was from, and he had very recently passed away.nI've no idea what the rest of the facilities are like, but the showers are great.
Staff is rude ! The people who work at this sport centre are not nice. Lots of negative attitudes. Came to play badminton few times at this sport centre. The basement is freezing cold and dirty. Smell is bad mouldy. Not worth the price they charge for what is offered.
I gather now the new building is in process they are neglecting the current one. The building is dirty, the gym is way too crammed and you are always waiting for equipment. Pretty expensive given the quality of the facilities.
