Busier than I thought it would be for a Sunday evening, but there is a hotel nearby so I am sure they recommend the site. I had a pasta bolognese which was excellent, and my partner had the walnut pasta. She mentioned that the wine was excellent first red on the list and the staff were knowledgeable and attentive. All in all a most enjoyable visit.
Friendly, tasty and atmospheric, it was a lovely place to go for a meal on a recent trip to London. The menu is simplistic, but the quality of the food is brilliant! It’s lovely to be able to watch your food being made, and to smell the fresh cheese and pasta. Also, Italian soft drinks served with a pasta straw definitely add to the experience! The deserts are great too! All round a great time, and worth a visit Vegetarian options: A selection of veggie options from the menu, with interesting flavors and styles.
Lively, buzzing, atmosphere, good and fast service, and pretty good pasta. Recommended. We had pine nut pesto #2 on the menu which was decent, and walnut and mushroom #4 on the menu which was really good. The bruscetta starter was very good too. Looking forward to going back to try some of the other options.
I love pasta. Like love it. But on this occasion I may have been a bit intoxicated and had no appetite at all. But, despite being full, I tried all of the dishes. They were incredible. Cacio e Pepe for me was incredible. My eating partner said it was too truffle-y but is that even a thing? The ragu was very tasty indeed. Although I was full, I did have several Amaretto Sours which were ok. After 4 or so they became amazing. The venue is very nice, it was a tad warm maybe as I was drunk with a dash of trendy. The toilet area has good toilet humour with pasta related jokes. The service was great but they were very busy so making eye contact was difficult at time but not a big issue at all. I will definitely return to actually finish a dish!
The food was perfect but the service was quite slow. We all got the pappardelle bolognaise and we loved it as a dish. We got the burrata with heritage tomatoes as a starter and we could tell that the tomatoes were fresh and very good quality, which you don’t get very often in the UK. We were asked if we wanted any bread with the starter but didn’t realise we’d get charged £2.50 just for 4 slices of bread. Finally, we had tiramisu for dessert but were left disappointed with how soggy it was… Would not recommend it. With the 12.50% service charge despite the slow service the total was too expensive for what we got but the food was above average, yet not perfect.
Trendy location minutes away from Aldgate East. The tomato and basil pasta tasted average and I could have made it at home. The pistachio and basil pesto pasta was slightly better and opened my eyes to different flavour combinations. The drinks straws were made of pasta which I thought was cool and the service was friendly. The Melagrana pomegranate soft drink was the highlight of the meal and tasted amazing. On the dessert front I found the pistachio gelato overly sweet as was the chocolate mousse. Dress code: casual Cost: ££ Service: attentive Ambience: boring with no background music
Delicious pasta. Fresh and tasty. Not a big ambient, but it's nice. Staff were friendly. I recommend this restaurant.
Highly recommend the lamb ravioli with sage, it was delicious. The truffle cacio e pepe was also very good. We also had the salmon carbonara which was good but a bit too peppery to our taste.
The service at Emilia’s Aldgate was great - everyone was so so lovely and answered all my questions when I asked about the menu. I got the burrata starter which was nice - I think there was a little bit too much olive oil, perhaps if less can be put on and if anyone would like some more they can add it themselves. It also would have been nice to have some tomatoes on the side of that or something. They recommended I try the pistachio and basil pesto casarecce pasta - it was okay. I wasn’t overwhelmed by it and would not order it again - it may have been meant to be al dente but I feel as though it was undercooked it was slightly crunchy and the flavour was definitely lacking - I added balsamic vinegar to improve the taste which worked quite well. Overall, slightly underwhelming experience.
Delicious authentic pasta! Both the lamb ravioli with sage and carbonara was really tasty Cute dimmed ambience with loads of plants gave the place real character Staff were also pleasant
