I can’t believe that just before Christmas the ticket office was completely closed during the day, with only one member of staff left at the station who wasn’t able to help with buying a ticket. As a result, we ended up paying much more simply because there was no one available to help.

Staff were not knowledgeable when my ticket was swallowed after I left the platform following a cancelled train. One staff member told me they could reprint my ticket, but after waiting a long time in the ticketing office line, the employee there said they do not reprint tickets. Only one counter is open in the ticketing office, so the line is very long. The toilets are dirty. There is no help for people who are hard of hearing. Overall, the station feels disorganized and stressful for passengers. The train supervisor was lovely, though.

We have just been to Eastbourne Railway Station to see our daughter off on the 1pm train to London Bridge and the guard at the barrier was so very rude and aggressive to us when we asked if our daughter was on the right platform ‘platform1’ for the correct train. All rail staff including Southern rail staff have always been kind and helpful, so this came as quite a shock.

Saw a group of people who seemed to think they were police harassing a young child who then proceeded to cry and start begging to be left alone, at which point they started to get even more aggressive and caused the child to attempt to leave the situation.nnAt that point three of grabbed the child who was a quarter of the size of them and physically forced them onto a bench. Myself and another passenger were helpless to do anything as we knew that they’d probably start on us too.nnFeel awful for the kid. If those are the sort of people we have running our stations now then southern fail is an absolute disgrace of a company.
