This was a fantastic station for arrival an departure, with lengthy platforms for the onwards services across the South! Departure boards are up to date across the station and the entrance area before the ticket gates is large, set under a glass roof that has multiple diagonal points. Staff were really friendly in letting me through ticket gates after arrival when I thought I'd left property on a platform, architecture is well maintained and exit leads out to the street efficiently!

I can’t believe that just before Christmas the ticket office was completely closed during the day, with only one member of staff left at the station who wasn’t able to help with buying a ticket. As a result, we ended up paying much more simply because there was no one available to help.

Staff were not knowledgeable when my ticket was swallowed after I left the platform following a cancelled train. One staff member told me they could reprint my ticket, but after waiting a long time in the ticketing office line, the employee there said they do not reprint tickets. Only one counter is open in the ticketing office, so the line is very long. The toilets are dirty. There is no help for people who are hard of hearing. Overall, the station feels disorganized and stressful for passengers. The train supervisor was lovely, though.

We have just been to Eastbourne Railway Station to see our daughter off on the 1pm train to London Bridge and the guard at the barrier was so very rude and aggressive to us when we asked if our daughter was on the right platform ‘platform1’ for the correct train. All rail staff including Southern rail staff have always been kind and helpful, so this came as quite a shock.
