In and out of here very often and must say it is a very well run hospital. I have stayed in on multiple occasions and they treat you very well and try control as many variables as possible which could effect your stay. The food is actually okay. Especially for a hospital and they can always offer a sandwich if you don't like the hot options. A&E can get super busy but the staff can only do so much to control other peoples actions. The same day emergency ward is the best run ward I have ever encountered.
Spent 11 days in DGH, initial actions timely to deal with condition. Ward staff superb. Medical team on the ward could be aware they can glean more from a patient by talking with them and not at them, only one, the youngest displayed that skill However what was evident was too many tails trying to wag the dog. Better departmental communication could have halved my stay. Don't seem to have an holistic approach to patients.
There is a 7 hrs waiting time from your arrival. How is that even possible 7 hrs and you get the message we take zero tolerance approach violence and aggression towards our staff so after 7 hrs of waiting do you see any one with smile on his face saying thanks ? This is a joke and it's not the staff fault it's the hospital because they don't have enough staff to manage all the patients. But overall the staff it's nice but it's takes too long to get treated.
I’m absolutely astonished by the friendly staff and the compassion they show for Their patients. My father has unfortunately been diagnosed with bladder cancer : having friendly, supportive and compassionate staff had made this difficult journey bearable. I would highly recommend anyone to skip the conquest and go straight to EDH
My son went into A&E for a standard blood pressure test because his doctor told him to. He went in at 6.30pm. It's now nearly 5.00am! He is told "the doctor will see you when he's ready". He's supposed to be ready for a full day's work at 9am after waiting nearly ELEVEN HOURS. It isn't good enough. Shame we can't all withhold our national insurance payments. It's a joke. Sort it out. Fast. NO ONE will want to go see their doctors or go to hospital and there will be more deaths from sheer negligence and mismanagement than there are from Covid.
Had an eye issue where I needed to see the eye Doctor, the service was fast and very good, on my further trips to the eye outpatients the service was always very decent and they give you a phone number to ring if you have any further issues or need to re-book. Only down side was an experience in A&E where the wait was long, but I believe at the moment all hospitals have the same issue unfortunately.
Whilst I massively appreciate the severity and pressure of A& E department in Eastbourne, added to a six hour wait. I can not forgive the uncaring nature of the receptionist, who did not bother to tell my 87 year old Father I was doing a four hour drive to be with him whilst he waited for his CT scan for a suspected bleed on the brain. Furthermore, I asked if someone could be informed I would swing by his home to collect his much needed daily medication. The doctors and nurses were professionally caring but the receptionist acted like lazy aggressive guard dogs. They need to be train to be kind and caring with empathy to humans worry and stress, at such a time. SHAME ON THE TWO OF YOU
Went here with 3 years old child. With temp over 40c very ill and no wet nappy over 12 hours. Sick worried about my girl. After waited for nearly 4 hours been told there is another 3 hours wait at least. You can possibly loose your loved one while you wait in the waiting area. What a shame for our country. For the services you get in hospital. Like in word war 2.
My experience in A&E was managed in such a timely and courteous manner I would like to say a massive thank you to Blessing, Chris and Sharna. Sharna has the most uplifting personality and the heart and understanding for every patient young, old, able etc The Government Need To Stand Up!
My sister was admitted to EDGH suffering from Covid and complications due to suffering from Muscular Dystrophy. I cannot praise enough the excellent treatment and care that she received from start to finish. My sister didn’t make it but from the paramedics, to A & E, AMU and finally the staff in Westham Ward, all of whom did everything they possibly could to help her. At the end, the care and kindness to my sister and us her family was second to none. A truly wonderful service EDGH, thank you.
