Great looking pub/bar inside. Great ales on tap. Lovely area, looking over the town centre. Not tried the food, and not been in when it's busy, but the food looks great so will be going back. Seems to like to play sports on TV so will avoid at them times but otherwise great. Edit: Tried the food, absolutely lovely. Good range of food, definitely worth it.
Nice place but some of the staff aren't the nicest. There's a lot going for this pub, nice laid backed atmosphere, dog friendly, decent selection of drinks and they serve big portions of decent pub food. Only problem is the hipster bar staff. They seem to think they're too good to be working there and really want you to know it, so they act rude and disinterested whenever you go to the bar. This isn't the case for everyone who works there though and shouldn't put you off giving the place a try.
Lovely place. Laid back atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. Well behaved dogs are welcome, and there's a wall of dog photos to prove it. They get the weekend papers in, so you can have a read while you drink. The term 'wine bar' as used by Google doesn't seem to fit - more of a real ale and good food place. Plenty of non-alcoholic drinks though, including lovely coffee although they sometimes run out of decaff!
Decent enough local pub. Plenty of space and a good range of cask beers. Nice and relaxed atmosphere, not a boisterous pub. Recommended for a drink, I've eaten here in the past and whilst the food was good the service was poor. UPDATE JULY 2022 - been back a couple of times in the last 3 weeks. Now owned by the people who run Whitelocks in the city centre. I think they in turn are owned by Five Points Brewery in Hackney. The beers are excellent, Local brews Northern Monk etc and a few Five Points beers XPA in particular are recommended. I don't think they currently do the food - maybe that will change in the future. . They are closing for refurbishment at the end of August for a few weeks. Hopefully they will improve the feel of the bar - less "departure lounge" and more "pub". Give it a go - Meanwood is a great place to have a drink.
Top beer great surroundings friendly staff...worth a visit!
This place has changed significantly since we last visited a couple of years ago. Multiple TVs showing sports at high volume destroys the relaxed atmosphere we used to enjoy here. The cask ale that I tried was clearly old. We left without finishing our drinks and sadly won't be returning.
Love going to this place. It had a great selection of beers and if you are not into beer ciders, wine or other non alcohol drinks. Went for dinner there on Tuesday and had this delicious steak and ale pie. But the best part is they allow dogs inside as long as they are kept on a leash...
It's a nice quiet place to go for a nice beer or wine, I'd give it 4 stars as a pub but after a few awful food experiences, I wouldn't recommend the food there. The food has improved and they have had a bit of a rearrange of late. Adding an extra star as you can get a very decent pint of IPA for under 4 quid!
We came here for dinner and enjoyed bacon chop with chips skin on and egg / chicken burger with sweet potato fries. All very well cooked and tasty. Gluten and dairy free catered for. I also enjoyed the Brockmans gin & tonic from the great range of gins available. There's also a good range of beers and whisky too. Nice friendly place but you can also have your own space, not too crowded.
Very kindly at the last min agreed to give our party half the space for a 40th after another venue let us down. The staff were great and even played our playlist for us. Drinks were lovely. Thank you !
