Story

CAB provide advise on a wide range of issues;

1. All Benefits
The bureau offers advice on all benefit issues and can provide assistance and representation with all benefits appeals at Tribunal Services. We can also ask the appropriate agency to review/reconsider your claim should you think the decision is wrong.

2. Tax Credits
Entitlement to Working/Child/Pension Credits.

3. Scottish Welfare Fund
Support with application for Crisis or Community Care Grants and appeal if refused.

4. Employment
Provide advice on your employment rights and give you support and assistance with your Employment Tribunal claims.

5. Housing
Housing allocations or homelessness appeals, Repairs or arrears issues.

6. Money Advise
Income & Expenditure, negotiation with Creditors. Debt Arrangement Scheme and reduced payment options.

7. Consumer
Contact and liaise with traders on your behalf. We can advise you on problems with goods and servicers. Assist with and provide representation at Small Claims Court.

8. Tax
Correspond with Revenue & Customs explain Tax notices and assist with appeals.

9. Patient Advise Support Service (PASS)
Provide advice and support on raising a concern with the NHS on treatment received from your GP/hospital or any service that is contracted through the NHS.

10. Utilities
Assistance to deal with contracts, arrears or disruption to service. This includes mobile telephone contracts.

11. Legal
Advice on your legal rights on many issues, although the CAB do not have lawyers we can offer advice.

Mission

Our mission is to ensure that individuals do not suffer through lack of knowledge of their rights and responsibilities, or of the service available to them, or through an inability to express their needs effectively.

The Citizens Advice Bureau all work to 4 main principles:

Free: The service is provided free of charge.

Impartial: Advisors give advice and information in a non judgemental way.

Confidential: All details provided are confidential and no details are passed to anyone without express permission of the client.

Independent: CAB is an independent organisation which owes no allegiance to any Government or Political Party.
