One of the most wonderful places I have ever stayed.

We went here on our honeymoon having spent quite a few weeks planning and getting it all ready. After the excitement of the actual day it was amazing relaxing in the outdoor hot tub and enjoying the stunning views over the valley. Log cabin is probably not the right word - it's really big, very airy and spacious with high ceilings and enough room a large family (e.g. parents with adult children and partners or similar)- ours had three large bedrooms. The place is within an hours drive from a lot of really wonderful places in Wales - beach or mountain - so we managed to go mountain biking one day and stay on the beach the other, followed by a visit to the waterfalls on the way back. We made good use of the kitchen facilities as the shops close by all stock local produce. There is a 3g signal up there so I was accessing internet through my mobile device. Special mention to Hugh and Sarah for excellent service, very good tips on things to see and being very accommodating hosts - definitely better experience than your average agency managed holiday home which also comes across in the large amount of thought gone into the construction and interior of the cabins right down to the eco friendly heat pump and solar panels supplying hot water and power. Very special place, cannot recommend it enough.

Just (this morning!) home from Dwr Y Felin where my hubby and I stayed at Ty Ceirios for two nights. We wish it could have been longer. Sarah and Hugh have put so much thought and love into the three properties at Dwr Y Felin that we honestly wished we could move in. We were a year overdue having a holiday, VERY stressed, and booked at the last minute. Two nights at Ty Ceirios we feel like new people, and are going back next month for another restorative break. The whole place makes you feel relaxed from the second you take off your shoes and walk in - the scent of the cabin, the comfort, the little touches, the heavenly bed, the amazing showers (one including a sauna), the hot-tub under the stars. No expense has been spared to make this place not just home from home, but better than a five-star hotel (and more private). For a honeymoon, a relaxing break, peace and quiet or just to read a mountain of books and reconnect, it cannot be recommended enough. If you have a large family, book all three cabins and spend a weekend together. If (like us) there are just the two of you, you'll be in heaven. There is so much to do in the locale, and so much history and nature crammed into a few miles, you'll never be bored (unless you have serious issues!) Visit castles, beaches, museums, historic towns, go biking, hiking or just sample the local ale - whatever you're doing, you cannot be more relaxed than in these amazing cabins. Tips - bring several changes of swimwear, as you'll be in and out of the hot-tub all day (it's so inviting you won't be able to resist) and it's not pleasant climbing into a dripping swimsuit...! Bring lots of carrots for the beautiful (and demanding, in the best way) Welsh Cobs who inhabit the field alongside and come to greet you each morning with great delight. Bring logs and marshmallows to build a roaring bonfire in the bonfire pit near the cabins, alongside a genuine stone circle which provides an amazing atmosphre. Bring picnic supplies so that you can sit on one of the benches overlooking the valley and have a romantic picnic within the grounds of the cabins without even having to walk more than 100 yards. Buy gorgeous local meat and fish to barbecue beside your hot-tub (but remember to bring charcoal). And bring an open mind, a willingness to be impressed, and a good camera. You'll leave feeling as though you've made new friends in Sarah and Hugh, who genuinely care that you have a good time (to the point of showing us on our map the best places to visit, and stopping to chat for half an hour even though it was a Saturday evening and they surely had better places to be than being kind to tourists. Fresh welsh-cakes cooked by Sarah awaited us as well - above and beyond the call of duty!) We will definitely be going back and recommending to everyone we know who has been overcharged for poor accommodation in miserable surroundings. Dwr Y Felin is worth every single penny, is superb value for what you get, and a genuine slice of relaxation. Go while you still can - it will be booked up for months in advance before long!..
