Kind, helpful, excellent level of care. Howard House Surgery is amazing. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly. The quality of care I have received has been fantastic. My doctor for many years, Dr Reading, is always kind, caring and perceptive. The surgery has continued offering an excellent level of care throughout the coronavirus epidemic. Such a valuable service to the community!
Having a long term health problem, I've experienced the simple fact that the doctors no longer listen or take notice of real problem.s. When we first joined the surgery, it was great but has gone down hill. I phoned a doctor and although i did get to speak, what i had to say way ignored..test offered, but no follow up,
We are new to the practice and have been happy with the way we have been treated. Lovely, friendly, polite reception, administration team. Very prompt call back and consultation with the doctor who was thorough and considerate. So far, so good. Thank you
The doctors I've spoken to have been excellent, however the surgey's handling of the COVID-19 situation has not been very logical. I arrived on time for my appointment, but was unable to enter the surgery due to social distancing rules - there was someone waiting for a prescription in the small area where you have to knock on the window to get the receptionists' attention. After 5 minutes, the person in front of me was given their prescription, so I knocked on the window and was ignored. I then knocked again and was rudely told that I was late. They need a better system in place. If attending an appointment, I would suggest knocking on the window continuously until you force someone's attention, otherwise you'll probably get ignored.
Dr Reading refused to come out and see my elderly father who I now know was severely dehydrated and needed to be put on a drip as a matter of urgency. When we requested that my father be admitted to hospital because he was deteriorating, Dr Reading blankly refused saying hospital would be a 'shambles' and would not be in my father's best interests. Instead Dr Reading let my father languish in bed for a further 3 weeks getting weaker and weaker despite several calls to Dr Reading requesting a home visit. Dr Reading clearly thinks that if you're over 85 you are well and truly past your sell-by date! However, eventually Bridget, the paramedic from the surgery, came out and was shocked to see the state my father was in saying he needed to go to hospital immediately. She was fantastic and her swift action meant my father was in hospital within 2 hours. Whilst Dr Reading's lack of care was astonishing, I can't rate the paramedic, Bridget, highly enough as she saved my father's life. She really is first class.
My husband and I have just had our flu jabs at the surgery. As usual lovely staff and very well organised. Well done to you all
I joined this practice in March 2018. Throughout this time I have been spoken to rudely and had my health problems trivialized. My prescriptions for the first few months were either incorrectly dosed, late or both. I have been lied to about referrals being made, lied to about procedures when they are all on line to read. I have asked 18 times to be referred to a cardiologist after being prescribed huge doses of drugs by my previous practice, all of which causes damage to the heart. Still no referral. Problems came up with my kidneys in a blood test in may last year, a scan I asked for showed my kidneys were full of calcium deposits... Still no urology referral. Calcium could be anywhere in my body and a scan is required to investigate this. Still no appointment ? Since stopping most of the meds prescribed by my previous practice, the Grove medical centre, in may 2017, I have been left with gastrointestinal problems, heart problems, kidney problems, elevated liver values and SIBO. Howard house have messed me about in any way possible, making snyde remarks and being difficult on purpose at every opportunity. They do this blatantly. The only honest thing I can recall Dr Rowe saying was, ' I don't want to get involved in any litigation against the grove medical centre', i had not said at that point i intended to take legal action. Perhaps that is why I have asked 18 times to be referred to a cardiologist even though all 4 of the drugs I was prescribed by the previous practice cause damage to the heart. Two of the drugs, morphine and lofepramine, were incompatible. They caused parylitic ileas, this can cause SIBO, often diagnosed as IBS. SIBO is treatable, a hydrogen breath test confirms SIBO. DR.Rowe refuses to request this inexpensive test? Yet Dr Rowe, said she would prescribe the necessary antibiotics to treat it, RIFAXAMIN ... if I can prove I have it ? I feel sorry for you Dr Rowe. If you can behave like this to protect a practice that you acknowledge could have killed a patient with prescription drugs, you really are a sorry individual. Yes you frustrate and annoy me but I can deal with it. I'm not like you and I'm glad I'm not.
Two of the doctors and a receptionist are a disgrace to the nhs. They have no compassion at all and lack proffessionalism on all levels. Absolutely disgusted with the way they handle situations and i will be taking this to PALS. I stongly suggest not to use this surgery if you are looking for a friendly, compassionte and proffesional team.
The staff are great, but the telephone appointment system is abysmal. I needed to see a GP but couldn't, so ended up at the emergency GP.
Since moving to Felixstowe from London, I have nothing but praise for all of the staff at Howard House. Everyone has been really professional and so helpful, I am really impressed with everyone at the practice.
