What a find. Parked up and wanted a Sunday lunch. We walked through Penrith and i saw this in the distance. Got a table for four no problem. Barman very polite showed us to the table. Food came prompt and excellent. All staff very friendly but in a natural way and not overbearing. We will be telling all of this gem of a find and we will be returning whenever we are near.

This is a really nice pub right in the heart of Penrith. It's recently been done up inn a very sympathetic way that retains a lot of its original charms. The food is excellent on my visit I started with haddock risotto that wad wonderfully creamy, I followed that with a steak that was very nicely cooked and came with some fine twice cooked chips. The pub has a lot of atmosphere and I would strongly recommend it.

Nice old fashioned pub with a fireplace and a good selection of beers. The staff were super friendly, and the food was nice (more flavourful than standard pub fare) but a lot of the main courses were really expensive (for Penrith anyway). I think this place would be great for tourists who want to experience real British food, but if we come back it will probably be on a Sunday afternoon for drinks and something more affordable than the 18 pound beef dumplings I ordered last time. I recommend the mulled wine while it's still available. They use decent wine, not the cheap stuff. I had to wait a while for it to arrive but it was worth it.
