Fantastic food from Steve and the team who’ve recently taken over this local gem. We’ve been here for Tapas night, Sunday lunch and a few evening meals from the Á la Carte. And the food really is standout. Clearly there’s a lot of skill, experience and care that goes into every plate. It’s also great value considering the cost of the ingredients currently. Nice to have some local ciders and ales to choose from too. Enjoyed the garden the last couple of nights. If you’re staying in one of the nearby hotels, or just in the area, it’s worth going out of your way for. Highly recommended.
My meal was delicious, a juicy steak, chips and a large mushroom. The plates were hot and the food was too. The staff were attentive and very helpful with dietary requirements. I can't remember what my oh ate,but he did say it was very tasty at the time. Will come back again when we are in the area for sure
Excellent food, serviced all 54 of us on a really large booking, food came out at the same time, correct order and it was all hot. Really nice owners and a great refurbishment well worth a visit.
Beautifully cooked food, freshly made and the hosts were really understanding and took great care to work around allergies. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere and our dog was welcome in the bar area, too.
Had trouble finding anywhere open for lunch. Came across the Dial Inn and received a warm welcome. Nice food. Would recommend.
Ate here last night....and again tonight, it was so good. The sauces on the salmon and in the chicken pie were outstanding. I was in need of veg and the chef sent out an extra huge bowl of buttered aldanté green veg. Terrific service. The white chocolate cheesecake made on site by said chef was so good we bought extra to take back to our hotel....just a little for later, as you do.
Stopped for lunch Thursday 5th May. Weather was perfect and so was lunch. We ate in the garden and had the lamb chops. We each were served with three chops new potatoes and peas for me and chef cooked chips for the wife They were the best we had ever eaten big and tender complement by the mint gravy. Too big to finish so asked for container to take home. The staff are pleasant and very helpful. I Can recommend this place.
We had a lovely lunch at The Dial. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced fish & chips - gorgeous piece of crispy battered cod served with home made chips and a tasty tartare sauce; home made chicken & leek pie - hearty chunks of chicken and leeks under a pastry lid, served with fresh veg and killer garlic potatoes. My greedy guts friend also managed a generous bowl of homemade fruit crumble and vanilla custard which also went down a storm. Good beer. Excellent service, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Entertainment provided by ongoing mild histrionics on another table by a fussy high maintenance customer which was handled with grace and patience by the front of house staff. The Dial is a lovely pub for lunch and we will be trying it soon for dinner, and just for beers. Highly recommended.
The dial has a lot of history for me over Many years, change of ownership pre covid was needed to bring it upto date. It it a very lovely pub/restaurant and has a great selection of drinks, and menu is brilliant. Try
