My first day in the UK, I decided that I should try the traditional fish and chips. The fish house was just a 10 minute walk from my hotel so I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. Definitely a top notch fish and chips place. I tried their Large portion and had a hard time finishing it. Next time, I will go with their regular serving, which is actually very generous. It went well with an affordable bottle of white wine. Excellent option for trying fish and chips.
“Fish, no chips.” We tried both the haddock and the cod fish and chips. I preferred the texture of the haddock, the fish held together with the breading better, and there was more flavor than the cod more of a note about fish than this particular place, both were prepared well but the nature of the cod served here made it more messy and harder to eat. The fish was good, but the sides were just meh. The fries were unusually dense and had a strange texture, I believe they were fried fresh but the oil seemed old. Service was good, but it was difficult to get ketchup with sit down service, we had to ask a few times and received only a very small amount each time. Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5
I had delicious fish & chips at the Fish House in Notting Hill served by Jermaine. The crust of the fish was crunchy and just perfect. Coffee or tea and bread served along with it as a value meal option. Swift and friendly service. I can recommend it. Good quality and fair price.
This place is the best for fish and chips. It's in a super nice location, the food is very good and the place is quite clean and tidy, compared to usual fish & chips spots. I really recommend it, plus they accept reservations. The staff is also nice and professional.
Really good fish. Reasonable wait time. Food started warm despite the trip home. I thought that considering the price of the fish and the chips, the sauces should have been included.
Close to the notting hill gate station. Tried a large delicious haddock with great sides. Chips was not so good but okay. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice and clean restaurant.
It was a perfect meal in London. I had a lot of luggage, but the staff moved it and it was so kind. I want to go there again because of the taste and the kindness of the jermaine staff.
The best fish and chips I have tried in London. Very friendly staff who made our visit even better. We will definitely come again. Strongly recommended.
Most expensive and worse food we had on our trip to London. Really don’t understand the good ratings. Furthermore we stood quite a long time waiting to be seated by the sign only to be told that we should just walk up the stairs. The restaurant itself is not very cozy. After ordering the waitress came with the machine and asked us to pay. This was before we even had our food. I guess they were not interested in selling any desserts. I asked for the receipt before to pay. This was not an option, receipt I would only receive after paying meaning that I did actually not know what I was paying for. The wine was served in a glass full of lipstick. I noticed even before the glass was put in front of me - I don’t know how it was not possible not it see?! Really just a lousy experience and wayyy to expensive.
IMHO, the cod fish was done to perfection. Crispy batter that wasn't heavy nor oily. Surprised by how delicious were the chunky chips - crispy on the outside and soft inside. Typically, this style of chunky chips would be soggy all the way through. Spoke to the chef who explained his method of double frying the chips. Found the service friendly and prompt. Very reasonably priced for the size of serving. Looking forward to my next meal of fish & chips.
