Went yesterday to purchase a dessert cutlery set, but faced discrimination I came wearing a headscarf. When I came to the till, the senior English lady rummaged through the desk for bring out a few boxes, inspecting them carefully before selecting one and putting the rest away. She asks if the purchase is for a gift and I reply in the affirmative. She puts the cutlery inside, and I inspect the box with the items before she puts the lid: the box was severly damaged on both ends, with bits of the original packaging torn off. I had to ask for a NEW box in good condition when it should have been a given. It is appalling that this was premeditated and that the lady consciously chose a damaged box to give me. Really disappointed, especially in an area where many customers come from Arab countries such as UAE and KSA.
Excellent service from Louise at David Mellor. We were interested in “Liner”David Mellor’s new design and wanted it in the mirror polished finish. Louise was very accommodating and organised samples to be sent to our Edinburgh address, from there it helped our decision making and we placed the order accordingly. Many thanks Louise, we love the cutlery it’s beautiful!
Placed a large order of rosewood knives online and then 3 weeks later they have been put on 20% discount sale. Contacted customer service to ask for a refund of the difference, but have been told this is not their policy. I personally won’t be shopping here again as I don’t like that style of sales. However, their customer service did tell me they do a sale after Christmas and then again in July, so if you’re looking to order from David Mellor Designs, I would wait until these sale periods!
We went to the Marylebone store to pick up an item and were informed it was out of stock but could be found at Sloan Sq. We asked for it to be sent to the Marylebone store for a pick up at a later date common practice for such high quality stores and it was agree that the sales woman would arrange this. She took our details etc. Fast forward a week later, we come back to the store having heard nothing and find out 1 she forgot to arrange the delivery 2 she couldn’t confirm if it was even in stock at Sloane Square anymore and 3 told us with zero apology or interest that we should just order online. This could have saved us a week of waiting and frankly hassle. Extremely disappointing service for such a high end store. This sales woman clearly has zero interest in customer service.
I went to David Mellor off of Marlybone High Street to bring the knives I purchased from them in for sharpening. They told me it would take a week. The store is never busy and I figured I would get them back in the time frame they promised. It ended up taking two weeks to get my knives sharpened. No apology, no explanation.
Exceptional or rather unbelievable service from Dan Trevor. Who would have expected anyone to have offered such 'after sales' service on an item bought 20+ years ago. First to find manufacturer's instructions and then to source a spare part that was but a £10 sale. Congratulations you went the extra mile at every point and ensured that David Mellor will remain our prefered kitchen equipment shop.
I like the shop, It has style. Not expensive. Until you look at their fancy kitchen knives. Not busy yet, Marylebone retail takes time to develop a customer base. A year or so.Staff a bit patronising, but pleasant enough. I am over 50.
Eleanor was a delight — exceptionally warm and helpful in explaining the provenance and design thinking behind the pieces.

The best quality cookware with a brilliant backstory. Love that a lot of it is made in Sheffield and every object sold with enthusiasm and passion.
