The famous David Lloyds. I'm a bit disappointed in all honestly. Basic package prices start at around £65. Normal membership is around £100. Platinum is £200 per month. Yes, they have all the facilities. Tennis court inside and out, swimming inside and out, inside restaurant. But the spa is what let me down the most. It's a very small sauna, steam, and jacuzzi. For the price you pay; you'd expect a lot better service. All in all; i enjoyed my times, but for the membership prices; I think they're better places for your money.
Recliners taken away from the wet area. Club is advertised as a 'spa' now with nowhere to sit/lay in order to relax but more importantly get your heart rate down and compose yourself before going onto your next activity. So, in my opinion there is a dereliction of DLs duty of care regarding the safety and well-being of your members, as I for one have found the removal both inconvenient and a safety concern. Literally, no one around. Also, the recent withdrawal of gym staff leaving the gym without any trained staff at hand for advice on how to use the new equipment. I myself got trapped in an equipment and had to rescue a fellow member from the same equipment. In my opinion another dereliction of DLs duty of care, to save money and funnelling members to 'force' them to take up personal training increasing to revenue for the club all whilst increasing gym fees. Reduced classes in favour Blaze. Fewer class options, again forcing members hand to opt for blaze. Time to put the members at the heart of the club and decisions.
Me and my husband joined David Lloyd on 10th January for a 3 month off peak fee. After viewing the place and talking to the sales person telling them my husband had had a stroke 18 months earlier,I was surprised they didn't ask how he would get on with equipment etc as he had weakness on his one side.We still decided to join on the day but the next day my husband said he didn't want to go due to anxiety with the amount of people there and lack of support about his ability.I emailed and attended the site the next day to tell them we wanted to cancel and they said as it was in the 14 day cooling off period it was fine.I have since emailed, gone back to see them, have been told the manager was on holiday and have still not received our joining fee or the direct debit back. They have been an absolute nightmare and we are still waiting
Some aspects are good! Some are really poor... reception staff are lovely! Communication is terrible, no response to any messages, parking is an absolute nightmare and showers are grim...mould on the ceiling!
I have to say I was appalled at my last visit to David Lloyd. Was considering joining until I went on the badminton courts and saw the state the courts were in. I was more than disappointed. Absolutely filthy doesn't look like the floors have been swept or mopped for a very long time. Don't even get me started on the dust all around the court. Even the vents and fans look like they ain't had a wipe down in years. Really don't understand how they can justify charging so much and existing members spend time in so much filth. Yet this is the most expensive gym in Birmingham for memberships and meant to be the most prestigious gym. Left with my asthma triggered from all the dust unfortunately. Was only considering DL because my old gym doesn't have badminton courts definitely not worth it
Gym is okay buy after signing up I realised that they have these offers to lure a lot of people in and gbe gym gets to busy.....also facilities are very dated especially compared to other David llyyods I've been to recently
On numerous occasions in fact lost count jacuzzi and steam room temperature is not acceptable many members have expressed their opinions to the staff no one seems to resolve the issue infact in response we are told we will let "them know " members find it difficult to understand who controls the temperature. The other common issues are no shower gel in the showers most of the time empty and no tissue papers. This review is without being baist sadly the truth. Hope these issues can be resolved immediately members are paying so much for membership they deserve better
I can’t believe how this branch compares the the likes of Worcester and Dudley branch which are absolutely outstanding. I feel totally robbed with the Shady lane branch. The sauna and steam room are out dated. Just utterly disappointed.
Very spacious, fully equipped with all the modern health equipment and hygienic swimming pools. Tambola on Monday added activity
It's a really nice gym and pool, and has a lot of additional sessions you can take advantage of. The seating area is nice and it feels clean and safe. The price however keeps rising and it's not something I can justify when there are other facilities locally that are significantly cheaper albeit not as nice.
