Visited the shop after reading about it in Time Out magazine: I have mixed feelings about the place to be honest.nThe building is beautiful and I have been upstairs and downstairs browsing through shelves for a good hour. I think I only scratched the surface of the incredible collection, especially when it comes to Travel and Fiction.nThe Travel section is organised by country which I thought was an interesting take and I am convinced that it makes searching for books easier and more efficient.nUpstairs there are few smaller sections, like Poetry and plays but I noticed that some of the books were a bit cramped on the shelves and were showing signs of spine or cover damage: it must be quite humid as there is a system of heaters set up - being under the roof it gets very hot during the Winter- and I didn't understand that because there is certainly space for the books to be displayed a bit widely...nI need to go back for another browse, I can certainly find more than I need
Daunt Books London feels like stepping into a peaceful wooden world filled with stories from every corner of the globe. The shelves are lined with travel books, classic novels, art, history, and biographies — all arranged by country, inviting you to wander through words before real journeys. The scent of old paper and warm wood gives the place a timeless charm. It’s quite accessible for wheelchair users, with wide doors, flat paths, and helpful staff who make you feel welcome. More than just a bookshop, it’s a gentle escape in the middle of busy London.nn Accessibility Checklist – Daunt Books London:nn No ramp at the entrance, but the step is low around 5 cmn Wide doorway suitable for wheelchair accessn Narrow aisles between bookshelvesn No accessible toilet availablen Helpful and friendly staffn Calm and quiet atmosphere for readingn Basement area only accessible by stairs no liftnn Note:nDaunt Books London is a lovely, historic bookstore with a warm and peaceful atmosphere. However, physical accessibility is limited — there’s a small step about 5 cm at the entrance and the basement area can only be reached via stairs.nStaff are kind and always willing to assist when needed.nn#WheelchairAccessible #AccessibleLondon #InclusiveTravel #AccessibleByWalkandSee
Very chic bookstore. I feel like I’m in a movie when I go into this store. Traditional with style. If you get the chance to see someone come from the back room, you’re gonna think you were just in a Bond movie and the villain came from his lair to hunt you down. Lots of great employees to help you out. If there were bookstores like this in the SF Bay Area, we wouldn’t even think of Amazon
Daunt Books is hands down one of the most beautiful and inspiring bookshops in London. The moment you step inside, you’re transported into another world — the oak galleries, stained-glass windows, and old-world charm make it feel like a literary sanctuary.nnWhat really sets Daunt apart is its incredible travel section, organized by country. You don’t just find guidebooks here — you’ll discover novels, histories, and essays from each region, curated with such care that you can lose hours exploring. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about books; they’re always happy to recommend something off the beaten path.nnEven if you’re not a huge reader, Daunt is worth visiting just for the atmosphere. It’s quiet, elegant, and somehow still feels alive with stories waiting to be found. I left with a stack of books I didn’t plan to buy — and no regrets whatsoever.
Beautiful bookstore with amazing collection.nnCome here for the first time and found this place by a chance.nReally a great place to visit specially if you’re a book lovers.
