Best pub in South East Cornwall The quality of the food was second to none in the south east Cornwall. I am really impressed and delighted. I finally found a traditional old pub with great atmosphere, in the countryside, and with amazing food. The service was excellent too. I will definitely become a regular.
Lovely pub, very friendly locals. Food looked delicious even though I didn't eat. Great pint of HSD enjoyed in the lovely sunny courtyard. Plenty of parking available. Thoroughly recommended .
Complete waste of time and money! Greeted by a miserable young girl who looked like she couldn't be bothered and we were a pain in the neck! We had booked for 1pm on Sunday and were looking forward to a lovely roast. It was disgraceful service, terrible food and overall, felt like no one cared anymore! The roast dinners were inedible, the veg was mush served in a dish, i had to ask what it was! The roast potatoes were burnt, Chewy and tasted awful, obviously been sitting around for some time and re-heated. One meal was quite nice and was clearly cooked fresh and served with fresh salad leafs. We waited at least 40 minutes and given we had booked for 3, there were only 2 sets of cutlery, no condiments, no apple sauce with the pork. The 2 roast dinners were left and I refused to pay for them. I asked to speak to a manager and was told, the chef is too busy, then asked, what's wrong? When I told her we couldn't eat the food so would not be paying for those two meals, she simply said, "Okay"! By the way, if you're going to have fresh flowers on the tables make sure the dead ones are removed and the water is fresh not slimes and cloudy! Unbelievable!
This is a place where I have to stop for a meal every time I'm in the area. Always top food and service until now. My last visit was extremely disappointing specially because I'm used to the top quality food this place used to offer. Ordered something that was totally different from what I imagined. A pork burger that consists of 2 deep fried pork chops in a bun. The chips tasted like fish, certainly cooked in the same oil and all the deep fried items were soaked in oil making it impossible to eat. I want to believe this was just an one off experience and it won't happen again. Looking forward to go back and be able to make an excellent review.
Front of house: Very friendly, Informative and quick to notice if you need anything. Kitchen: The meal I had see image was incredible. I was expecting standard pub food, but this blew all my expectations out if the park! Seasoned chips, beautifully dressed salad, incredible burger. Massive props! While I was here, front of house even filled up a families own water bottles with water and ice - free of charge. I will be visiting again.
1st time visit for us. A welcome sanctuary from the driving rain and a moorland walk. Big real fire and a warm welcome. Nice selection of beers, but no Jameson's The menu looks great so that's another reason to visit again.
If I could give less than one star I would. Menu not even close to the one advertised. We waited 45 minutes for a tough steak that only one of our party of 3 could chew. That would be 2 adults and a dog. I took the time to stop by and personally make a reservation and pointed out that it would be a birthday meal for my partner .I paid over £70 for a ghastly meal. Please save your money and eat elsewhere.
What a fantastic hidden gem, so warm and friendly with great homemade food and St Austell Ale. There were a few more delicious chips on the plate but couldn't resist eating them and cutting into the lamb burger before the pictures
Lovely traditional Cornish pub. Great food I particularly enjoyed the Cornish Gold cider. Staff friendly to visitors and convivial atmosphere for a good chat. Dog friendly.
Good beer, good food, friendly and helpful staff, Excellent. A small car park, lovely views, real fire. The Crows Nest deserves its place in the Good Beer Guide
