I returned to the Cross Keys having discovered it last month while on a business trip in the area. Loved the 'proper' homemade steak and ale pie, and the Butcombe Original ale on draught. Enjoyable quality food, relaxed atmosphere in a real 'local' pub with friendly welcoming staff. I'll be back.
Lovely meal again at the Cross Keys. The burger is colossal and so tasty, the cottage pie to die for and the cod special... WOW! Seriously the food here is good - far better than anything around for a good few miles. Good selection of beer, friendly staff and a welcoming humdrum of locals. All round great country pub.
One of the most beautiful and friendly pubs we have ever been in. Stunning part of the country, and the food is absolutely delicious. Eaten here four times now and every meal has been lovely. Staff also friendly and efficient. Highly recommend.
Nice village pub with car park. Nice Christmas decor and very friendly service. The food menu is good and states produce is locally sourced. Unfortunately it took some time to appear and my steak and ale pie consisted of nice gravy and good crusty pastry, but the meat was poor quality which is a shame.
Lovely local pub! Great food and warm welcome. Oh, and they usually have a great selection of toys for the kids in the garden.
Enjoyed a lovely lunch here, booked ahead easily on the website. I had steak, with sweet potato fries, which was cooked medium rare as requested and was actually medium rare, which is not always the case! The vine tomatoes were delicious! My husband had the fish and chips, which he enjoyed and was a large dish. A nice touch that it came with curry sauce but in a sealed pot so if you hate the smell like me it won't ruin it for you! The waitress was friendly, I think new? There seemed to be some locals in and a couple.of friendly dogs The only thing was that there was a leak in the ladies toilets so a puddle on the floor, but assume that will get fixed pretty quickly. Would recommend and visit again.
Found this little gem, so visited for lunch. Such a friendly atmosphere. Family run pub. Lovely garden too. The food was absolutely delicious. Lots of choice on the menu at very reasonable prices. We had the sticky beef which had been recommended followed by the lemon posset. Yummy. Will definately be returning.
Photos on maps made the beer garden look nice, but in reality it's very run down. The staff were nice.
A warm welcome. Good food and great bits and pieces for the kids in the garden. There's a surprise in every little table.
