Crocodiles of the World

About

Crocodiles of the World is the UK's only crocodile zoo. We're home to more than 100 crocodiles, alligators and caimans from 14 species of crocodilian.

Story

Shaun Foggett founded crocodiles of the World in 2011. Shaun’s passion for crocodiles led him to found the UK’s first and only crocodile zoo. Crocodiles of the World’s mission is to study, celebrate and protect the diversity of crocodiles and their habitats.

Set within the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, Crocodiles of the World is an experience unlike any other. Nowhere else but here will you have the opportunity to see such a wide collection of crocodiles, alligators and caimans - more than 100 animals from 14 different species of crocodilian.

A new experience for our visitors, Crocodiles of the World recently moved into a new home near Brize Norton approximately 3.4 miles from Burford. Today, the zoo has undergone a dramatic transformation that includes new exhibits designed to mimic the crocodiles’ natural habitat, enhanced facilities for visitors, and even more contributions to environmental and wildlife education, research, and conservation.

Our new address is Burford Road, Brize Norton, Oxfordshire OX18 3NX. We're easy to get to and there's free parking at the main entrance.

From 14 February 2014, Crocodiles of the World is now open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm all year round including Bank Holidays; we are closed on Christmas Day. Tickets are available to book online or may be purchased on arrival.

Last entrance to the zoo is half an hour before closing.

Crocodiles of the World offer a range of events, from educational guided tours to birthday parties for all ages. Our keeper for a day experiences give you the chance to spend half a day behind the scenes with our keepers as they care for, train and feed the crocodiles.

Crocodiles of the World has been the subject of television programmes in the past. Discovery Channel UK and Channel 5 broadcast a three-part documentary, Croc Man, in 2011.

Great place for young and old. A lot of it is undercover so it's a pretty good destination in poor weather. Do not miss the crocodile feeding time and the educational talk includes a chance to stroke an alligator ( only a small one!). There are also meerkats, tamarinds and kookaburras who actually do make a sound like laughter! The cafe is not great ( nothing bad just not a great range and prone to running out of stuff) but there are a lot of picnic tables. This is a place for conservation and education so the enclosures are well thought out and the animals well looked after. As a result they do breed so there is a good chance to see babies!

Great if you like crocodiles as there are loads of them. I also felt it was very reasonably priced and there was a lot of information and helpful staff to answer questions. It doesn't work for kids who want animals to do something like our two as crocodiles don't move much. Be aware that the outdoor bits are very cold in winter including the education room where the crocodiles talk is and the crocodiles bits are very hot so best to take a very thick coat for the outdoor bits and t-shirt for everything else.

What a fantastic little sanctuary the staff and talks were excellent perfect afternoon out! We expected an hour or so of entertainment but spent 4 before we had to leave! Looking forward to seeing a 5-6 meter croc in the future, definitely be revisiting

Great value for money. The whole family will love this. Needs a good half day + to do it justice. Compact enough and flat so all ages can enjoy but packed with wildlife. The name says it all. Very well kept and friendly.

Interesting day. Small site but the owners make the best of it. Good talks which give a good background to crocodilla. It is fascinating just watching the various exhibits once you have a bit of background. Would recommend a visit.
