Craggies

About

Situated in Cragg Vale this new Café, Butchery and Deli promoting locally sourced produce from the South Pennines region overlooking beautiful countryside.

Story

Our Hill Top Cafe, Butchery & Deli looks across the stunning Pennine landscape, with a magnificent view of Stoodley Pike (we’ve even reflected that in our logo). It’s on the road out of Cragg Vale towards the turn off to Ripponden & Rochdale. We have an on-site butchery, and all our meat is sourced locally. Our beef, lamb and Pork is reared on the local hillsides, and typically will have only travelled 6 miles in it’s life before it arrives at our place! We believe strongly in the welfare of the animals, and only work with farmers that we know well. Our reason for being is that we love food, love the area we live & work in and believe that when we support other local farmers, growers, manufacturers and makers, the place we live in thrives. So come and say hello, ask us about some of the tastiest meat you will find in the whole region, sit and have a coffee, admire the view and browse our farm shop and local produce.

We look forward to seeing you.

Friendly staff and good food a ta reasonable price. I had the all day breakfast which was lovely - I especially enjoyed the bacon which was lovely and crispy. Outside seating area is nice with quite a large covered area and amazing views over to Stoodley Pike.
Can’t recommend this place as on entry I was spoken to rudely by a female member of staff with red hair. It was almost like she couldn’t be bothered, she passed me over Rudely to a younger member of staff who happily took my order. I decided to never return here after the red haired member of staff spoke horrendously to the younger member of staff on shop floor infront of customers. This place needs to hire friendly members of staff who care about the quality of customer service that is being provided. They need to learn to treat staff members with respect and work as a team.I am giving one star to be able to post this but I would give it 0 stars had that have been an option.
Great eatery with a good menu, lots of local products. The farmshop and butcher are amazing, and the in-house butchers offer great advice as well as preparing meats to your requirements. Everything I've had has cooked well and tasted fabulous...cannot recommend enough!!!
The best cappuccino ever! Tasty rarebit. Great welcoming staff and really good shop! Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit and will definitely be back! Deborah & Elisabeth xx
The best afternoon tea I have ever had, everything was delicious and really well made. The staff were really friendly and attentive but not overly so. We’ll definitely be back.
Not been for years and it's looking great. I'm a huge fan of cake so an ideal place. Dog friendly too
Good, simple menu, a bit pricey for a farm shop location. Friendly, polite staff.
Lovely place. Enjoyed a really tasty salad that had a lot of variety & flavour to it. The shop has some great stuff, if on the pricey side. Bought a slice of pie for my husband & he said it was excellent.
Well Craggies you let me down, took my relatives here for first time at 15.00 and you advised kitchen was closed despite your advertised 16.00 closure on a Sunday, close at 15.00 then!!...we didn't want warm food anyway, but fancied a scone which was for sale in the farm shop. No we weren't aloud a scone because the kitchen was closed? We only wanted a plate, knife and butter but no the kitchen was closed yet could have cake served on a plate..... crazy and disappointed.
Very nice setting with outdoor seating overlooking the moors. Good range of choices on the menu, but several things unavailable on our visit. Serves beers from both of the neighbouring breweries, I'm a little valley man myself.
