We visited on the last open day of the year usually open may-sept . Entrance is free if historic house or RHS member. The house is still lived in by the family and hence no photos allowed inside . Visit is by tour which was extremely informative. The lady new all the facts and figures A large amount of the portraits inside are horse related including some by stubbs, Fernley. There are also other pieces of art by munnings, zoffany, Ramsey and Wright of Derby. A large collection of sculptures and pottery can also be found. The gardens although small are beautiful, with hidden corners and areas abound. There is a basic cafe with the usual cakes, tea and coffee. This place is a hidden gem and is a must see in the area.
Lovely afternoon out. Didn't have time to do the hall. Still lots of colour. Plenty to see but not to spread out. Nice walk down to the wild garden by the stream. Enjoyed the Carrot cake from the tea room. I sat out in the courtyard. It was a beautiful September afternoon. Limited opening hours. Only opened Thursday 2 to 5 in September. Plenty of benches to rest and enjoy the view. Lots of parking space. Easy walk to gardens from car park. Most importantly ladies, toilets at the courtyard alongside the tearoom. It's a RHS partner garden so was able to enter using my HRS card.
Used Historic Houses membership to get tour of house. Very impressive buildings and grounds. Many paintings of horses. Very pleasant gardens. Small cafe for tea, coffee and cakes. Very enjoyable visit.
What a fantastic garden so much to see, so many varieties of plants , us a super Nursery to buy bulbs and the like. Also a great with a huge menu. Lovely staff thank you all.
Very interesting house with a huge collection of paintings of horses. Fabulous gardens which are beautifully maintained.
Lovely gardens , perfect for an afternoon stroll before visiting the tea rooms for some home made cake.
“Not Pet Friendly” Doesn’t allow dogs which is very disappointing, would likely come back if I could bring back my fury friend. On this basis alone I wouldn’t bother as there are other places to see that allow dogs on site.
Fantastic place, beautiful gardens and the paintings predominately horses are superb. We were escorted around the Hall by two clued up members of staff. There is a quaint cafe area with a good selection of cakes and copious amounts of tea. Cottesmore Hall is a real gem in the Northamptonshire countryside.
Excellent venue with lovely kept gardens. The house is great with fantastic personal effects and furniture.
Fabulous day out but although it looked like rain was on the way, by the afternoon the sun was out, so we all really enjoyed ourselves. Only the gardens were open due to Covid; however, everything was beautifully laid out and the perfume from each area was fantastic - particularly the wisteria hanging over one of the bridges. Highly recommended.
